Dr. Winfield Hartley’s journey into the world of plastic surgery began in a most unexpected way—through the operating room of his uncle, Dr. John Hartley, former president of the Southeastern Society of Plastic Surgeons. At the age of fifteen, Dr. Hartley spent his summer watching his uncle work his surgical magic, sparking a fascination with the art of transformation that has lasted ever since. With a degree in psychology from the University of Virginia and a medical degree from Emory University in Atlanta, he set out to turn his passion into a lifelong career.

Dr. Hartley honed his skills in general surgery and plastic surgery at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, one of the country’s top programs. He then traveled across the globe to Melbourne, Australia, for a fellowship in Facial Aesthetic Surgery under Dr. Bryan Mendelson, a master of facial rejuvenation. After that, he further refined his craft with a second fellowship in Aesthetic and Reconstructive Breast Surgery in Nashville, Tennessee, under Dr. Patrick Maxwell.

Dr. Hartley began his career in Boulder in 2002 with a focus on breast surgery, from augmentation to reconstruction. His expertise extended to body contouring procedures and he still enjoys Mommy Makeover procedures. But over time, he found himself drawn more and more to the art of facial rejuvenation. Now, he specializes in facelifts with volume restoration through fat grafting—creating natural, radiant results that enhance the face’s contours and restore youthful volume, all while keeping recovery minimal and scarring nearly invisible.

A prostate cancer survivor himself, Dr. Hartley brings a unique, personal touch to his work with breast cancer patients. His own journey through diagnosis, treatment, and recovery has given him a deep empathy and a special connection with patients navigating similar experiences. He understands the importance of not just physical healing, but emotional restoration, and he takes great pride in helping his patients reclaim their confidence and sense of self.
