Profile of Luis Rios, Dr

Dr. Rios helped establish the prestigious Rios Center for Plastic Surgery with his father, plastic surgeon Dr. Luis Rios, Sr., in the 1970s. Together, father and son built the Rios Center, which has become the destination surgery capital serving the Southern Texas area. McAllen and Brownsville recognize Dr. Rios as the area’s “favorite plastic surgeon”, and he has received the McAllen Chamber of Commerce Best Small Business Award. Dr. Rios was also past president of the Texas Society of Plastic Surgeons.

His impressive education includes academic experience that spans elite institutions from the Southwestern Medical School right here in Texas to Harvard and beyond. After earning his Bachelor’s degree in biology at Harvard and his medical degree at Southwestern Medical School, Dr. Rios served a residency at the University of California, where he became the Chief Resident of Surgery. He then completed a fellowship in hand surgery at Baylor College of Medicine.
