Frequently Asked Questions about Silhouette InstaLift®

Ask a question
  • How does Silhouette InstaLift® work?

Using a double-action effect, the procedure effectively adds skin smoothing and toning as well as definition to the face. The insertion of the sutures immediately repositions the tissue and stimulates the regeneration of collagen that will continue for many months. Gentle pressure is applied to the treated area to reshape the contours of your face.

  • How long does silhouette lift last?

The results typically last for between 18 months and two years, depending on a number of factors. To get the best results from your threads, you can make lifestyle changes such as wearing sunscreen, avoiding smoking and excessive drinking and following a balanced, healthy diet.

  • Who is a good candidate for Silhouette InstaLift®?

The procedure, also called Silhouette Soft, is recommended for men and women who want to correct sagging skin and loss of volume but aren’t ready for surgery.

  • What are the threads made from?

Poly L-lactic acid (PLLA) is the primary material used in the threads. It has a well-established safety record with many biomedical and pharmaceutical applications because it offers excellent biocompatibility and is biodegradable.

  • What makes the Silhouette InstaLift® threads unique?

There are small cones on the sutures that provides traction and fixation points which then stimulates the production and build-up of collagen.

  • Is the procedure safe?

The procedure has been developed after six years of research. With more than 150,000 treatments carried out around the world, Silhouette InstaLift® has been proved to be a safe, effective treatment to reverse some of the signs of aging.

I had rhinoplasty surgery one week ago and all I have to say is, if you're looking for a warm, caring, friendly, and highly skilled surgeon- look no further. Dr. Bitar not only achieved a beautiful result but made me feel cared about, and well cared for, throughout the entire recovery process.

I had an unusually difficult recovery from surgery (I had a sensitivity to anesthesia that left me vomiting for the entire day following surgery, got some sort of food poisoning, and generally felt sicker than I have in my entire life). Due to this, I had to see Dr. Bitar two additional times between my surgery and one week follow up visit. Every time I came into the office (or had my partner call Dr. Bitar with concerns about my recovery) I was met with warmth, compassion, and helpful adjustments to ease my recovery. Dr. Bitar never once made me feel like a burdensome or "difficult" patient, despite seeing me four times in one week following surgery.

Additionally, the entire office staff were friendly and accommodating from start to finish. This was especially exemplified by Trish, who is the nurse that assisted Dr. Bitar throughout the surgery/recovery process. Trish was truly the embodiment of warmth and kindness, she literally held my hand through having my splints removed and her calming presence helped to put me at ease when I was in an extensive amount of pain and discomfort. Also noteworthy, both Dr. Bitar and Trish were very welcoming to my partner and made her feel equally as comfortable and accepted as she was by my side during my surgery and subsequent visits to the office (although this might not apply to everyone, it is something to consider if you're LGBTQ and having any sort of medical procedure done, you want an affirming/welcoming provider).

Lastly, what everyone actually cares to hear about- the result. I am only one week out of surgery and my results are already life changing. Rhinoplasty takes an extensive amount of time to heal and for the result to fully reveal itself, so while I am still experiencing considerable swelling, my nose is already looking like EXACTLY what I asked Dr. Bitar for. I'm including a before photo and several after photos so you can see the result for yourself, but my primary concerns about my nose were 1) the bump on my nose from my profile view, 2) the bulbous/droopy tip, and 3) how flared my nostrils were. Now, the bump is gone, my tip (though still very swollen, of course) is more refined and my nostrils were trimmed and are now in better harmony with my nose and entire face.

Overall, I could not be happier with my experience and result of this procedure! I did extensive research, looked into other surgeons, booked other consultations and I can say with full confidence that I made the right decision here. If you're looking for a highly skilled/specialized rhinoplasty surgeon and want to feel cared for throughout the process, Dr. Bitar is the only choice.

***4 MONTH UPDATE***

I am adding two additional photos to show the progress at this point. I am just a few days shy of 4 months post-op and I could not be happier with my results. I'm including one side profile picture without makeup, and another front facing with a full face of makeup.

My nose looks exactly as I wanted it to my breathing is slowly improving and the swelling is significantly reduced. That being said, at 4 months post-op it is normal to still have some swelling, and I do. Mostly in the tip area, and I especially notice the swelling if I am sick, doing intense exercise, or haven't slept well the night before. I share this because this is all normal and I think its useful to have realistic expectations when you're preparing for this type of procedure. Overall, I feel great, I LOVE the look of my nose, and feel infinitely more confident than I did prior to surgery (as a reminder, I originally had a dorsal hump that was very prominent from my side profile view, now I have a perfect sloped side profile)
