Dr. Basil Schaheen, a board-certified plastic surgeon, is trained in all aspects of aesthetic and reconstructive surgery of the face, body, and breast. His commitment to surgical excellence, coupled with his board certification, reflects his dedication to the highest standards of care and expertise in plastic surgery. As an accomplished educator, he continues to guide his patients in making informed decisions tailored to their unique needs.

✔ EDUCATION AND TRAINING

Raised in Tucson, Arizona, he attended the University of Arizona and graduated with honors in Molecular and Cellular Biology. He went onto attend Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia where he was awarded the Phillip P. Pepepi Award in Surgery by the faculty and was inducted into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha national medical honor society as well as the Gold Humanism Honor Society. Dr. Schaheen also volunteered at JeffHOPE, a student-run organization that improves access to health care for the homeless and underserved population.

Following medical school, Dr. Schaheen completed a six year general surgery residency at the University of Virginia, where he met his wife who is an accomplished Orthopedic Surgeon. While at UVA, he received numerous teaching awards and was recognized by the Gold Humanism Honor Society for his bedside manner and patient care. He received the coveted Skip Warren Chief Resident Teaching and Leadership Award from the Department of Surgery. Dr. Schaheen went on to complete an additional three years of training at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. While at Vanderbilt, Dr. Schaheen twice received the Plastic Surgery Educator Award, was once again recognized by the Gold Humanism Honor Society, and was named the Plastic Surgery Consultant of The Year by the emergency department faculty and staff.

As a husband and father of two young daughters, Dr. Schaheen prides himself on creating a welcoming environment for his patients and their family.
