Dr. Daniel Mazzaferro is a highly skilled and fellowship-trained plastic and reconstructive surgeon specializing in aesthetic surgery and breast cancer reconstruction. Originally from Connecticut, Dr. Mazzaferro’s journey through academia and athletics is as distinguished as his medical career.

He completed his undergraduate training at Auburn University where he was recruited to be a member of the elite swimming and diving team and honors college. Dr. Mazzaferro was a distinguished springboard and platform diver at Auburn University where he won two NCAA Division 1 swimming and diving championships, two World University Games medals for the U.S. National Diving Team, and placed 7th at United States Olympic Diving Trials. His athletic success coupled with his academic accomplishments graduating summa cum laude with a Chemistry degree resulted in the highest scholar-athlete awards across the nation including Rhodes Scholar National Finalist and Walter Byers Scholar Finalist given to the top 3 Male NCAA Scholar Athletes of the year (from a pool of over 250,000 people).

Dr. Mazzaferro proceeded to obtain a MBA from Auburn University, where he integrated his passion for medicine with business and innovation to drive advancements in surgical care and patient outcomes. Dr. Mazzaferro subsequently earned his medical degree from Drexel University College of Medicine, where he continued to excel at the top of his class, served as president of his medical school class, and was awarded a clinical research fellowship at the world-renowned Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia studying pediatric craniofacial anomalies (e.g. cleft lip/palate, craniosynostosis, and hemifacial microsomia).

He completed his six-year Integrated Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Residency at the prestigious University of Pennsylvania, one of the largest breast cancer reconstruction programs in the country with highly regarded leaders in microsurgical reconstruction. He excelled at the highest level as a leader, surgeon, researcher, instructor, and entrepreneur. His innovative and determined mindset motivated him to develop a precise delivery system for treatment optimization, risk reduction, and pain free experience for several skin diseases, cancers, and cosmetics, to ultimately form a startup company, RheoTek Medical Inc. Dr. Mazzaferro is an active researcher, focusing on innovations in surgical techniques and patient care. He has over 30 publications, 30 presentations at regional, national and international meetings and procured over $200,000 in grant funding
