Profile of Dennis Hurwitz, Dr

Dennis Hurwitz, M.D. is the founder of the Hurwitz Center for Plastic Surgery, now Pittsburgh Center for Plastic Surgery. Now retired from clinical medicine, for each of 25 years, he was recognized as one of America’s Top Physicians for plastic surgery referrals by the Castle Connolly Guide. Dr. Hurwitz has innovated new techniques with incredible results in facial rejuvenation and body contouring surgery, and as such he is sought by patients worldwide for his Vertical Facelift and Total Body Lift surgery.

Until his retirement, he served as Clinical Professor of Plastic Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) and was former director of the UPMC Aesthetic Plastic Surgery Center.

Having fully trained in general and plastic surgery at prestigious universities, Dr. Dennis Hurwitz passed in 1979 American Board of Plastic Surgery examinations and has voluntarily re-examined for maintenance of ABPS certification in 2005 and 2015. He is a member and leader of numerous professional organizations, such as the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), the Aesthetic Society, Ohio Valley Society of Plastic Surgeons, and the exclusive American Association of Plastic Surgeons. He founded the University of Pittsburgh Craniofacial Center and is past medical director of the Cleft Palate/Craniofacial Center. This over 40-year experience provides special skills and experience in facial and body surgery. A longtime contributor to his community, he is past chairman of the JF Maimonides Society, and president of Allegheny County Medical Society.

Dr. Hurwitz retired in early 2024.
