Frequently Asked Questions about Silhouette InstaLift®

Ask a question
  • How does Silhouette InstaLift® work?

Using a double-action effect, the procedure effectively adds skin smoothing and toning as well as definition to the face. The insertion of the sutures immediately repositions the tissue and stimulates the regeneration of collagen that will continue for many months. Gentle pressure is applied to the treated area to reshape the contours of your face.

  • How long does silhouette lift last?

The results typically last for between 18 months and two years, depending on a number of factors. To get the best results from your threads, you can make lifestyle changes such as wearing sunscreen, avoiding smoking and excessive drinking and following a balanced, healthy diet.

  • Who is a good candidate for Silhouette InstaLift®?

The procedure, also called Silhouette Soft, is recommended for men and women who want to correct sagging skin and loss of volume but aren’t ready for surgery.

  • What are the threads made from?

Poly L-lactic acid (PLLA) is the primary material used in the threads. It has a well-established safety record with many biomedical and pharmaceutical applications because it offers excellent biocompatibility and is biodegradable.

  • What makes the Silhouette InstaLift® threads unique?

There are small cones on the sutures that provides traction and fixation points which then stimulates the production and build-up of collagen.

  • Is the procedure safe?

The procedure has been developed after six years of research. With more than 150,000 treatments carried out around the world, Silhouette InstaLift® has been proved to be a safe, effective treatment to reverse some of the signs of aging.

While I never received the procedure I initially wanted, the road to achieving an appointment was not pleasant. Booking a consultation over the phone was easy, but the day of my appointment which was supposed to include both the consultation and initial treatment started with a phone call 30 minutes prior asking what area I was looking to be done (though I had already told them, said no notes) and whether I've been out in the sun. I was baffled that this was being asked right before my consultation but answered and went to the appointment later. At the consultation, I spoke to maybe three people, each repeating the same question, have you been out in the sun? Are you tanner than usual? I answered best I could, but it got old real fast. They explained that with my skin tone and it being summer, there are certain precautions, which I understand and appreciate, however, they were unable to do the first treatment because they were unsure if it was a good idea. They said they'd check in with the head doc (she'd be able to tell from photos they took) and let me know maybe the next day. A week later, still no call. I called. No notes on my file, I had to explain why I was calling, they reiterated why they're unsure of how to proceed, going back and forth whether the next appointment would be another consultation (thought they had pictures?) or a treatment. Same question: have you been out in the sun? I even offered to book my appt. later in the fall if it helped. She said she'll check and call back. When they did, she said the doc said it was okay to proceed with the initial treatment, but my confidence in this facility had been tested. They said the doc had been out on vacation for the past week, which is why I never heard back. I think that the office needs to work on their policies and procedures, especially if they are not accustomed to people of darker skin and uncomfortable with patients during summer months. I canceled with them because I did not receive the confidence or consistency in information I would have liked in my medical services.
