Dr. Karimi = Amazing! While out visiting in California, I was able to get into Dr. Karimi's office for a consult. The office staff is wonderful! And once you meet Dr. Karimi -- it's as if he's an old friend. -- After the initial consult & a CT-Scan of my nose, I found out I had 100% blockage of my left nostril. -- With vacation over and back in Kansas I checked in with my local Ear, Nose and Throat expert Dr. However nice he was, I just didn't get the same sense of experience & he wasn't as personable as Dr. Karimi was. In addition, the Kansas Dr. said I would be 'down' a hard 5 days, and recovery would take at least 10 days total, & I would need nose stints, which would have to be physically removed. He also initially wasn't going to do anything about a small cyst I had in my sinus cavity, because it wasn't really 'hurting anything', as he said. I scheduled surgery & ended up canceling, because it just didn't 'feel right'. I only have this one body, and even though Dr. Karimi was out of my insurance network (since I was from Kansas and he's in California), and I was going to have to pay a LOT of money out of pocket, not to mention travel to California... I needed to go that route. So I worked with Dr. Karimi's office staff (which again are WONDERFUL), and worked out a payment plan, since my Government approved Insurance Plan didn't cover me in California.... I scheduled the surgery, and planned my trip for 15 days. After my arrival, Dr. Karimi had an emergency come up, where a patient needed him immediately! Staff was quick to update me, and remind me that they knew I had flown in specifically for the surgery, and my surgery ended up happening early. Dr. Karimi treats all of his patients like old friends -- I can't stress that enough. I expressed some concerns about stints, and other things the Kansas Dr. had put in my head, and Dr. Karimi answered my questions, and put me at ease. I had the surgery, and everything went smoothly. I didn't need 'stints' like the Kansas Dr. said I would need, and Dr. Karimi took care of the cyst -- which he'd planned to do all along. My GF had gone to the Pharmacy across the street to get Meds, and by the time my GF got back from getting my Meds, I was in recovery. Dr. Karimi checked on me, and then gave me a little present -- an (at least) 2" bone spur that he removed from my left nostril area. My Lovely GF then carefully took me back to the Hotel, and attempted to care for me. The only problem was, I really wasn't in any pain. I followed the instructions to carefully flush my nose, and change my bandages. My GF 'made' me take a pain pill before going to sleep that night, so that the pain wouldn't creep up on me, and then it'd be to late to take pain medication. The next morning, I didn't really feel any pain, and elected not to take any more pain medication. Here's where it get's crazy. The DAY AFTER my surgery, in the afternoon, My GF and I went out shopping ! Granted I had a bandage on my nose, so I may have looked a little funny.... but we went shopping ! Now remember, earlier, my Kansas Dr. said I was going to be 'down hard' for at LEAST the first 5 days, and it'd take 10 days to recover.... Not with Dr. Karimi's hands doing the work on me! Talk about CRAZY AMAZING ! I still am in awe, and reassured myself that I made the right decision, in paying (quite a bit of money) out of pocket to make sure I had the correct Dr. work on me. During one of my follow-up visits, I asked Dr. Karimi about the stints, and how I was able to go shopping the next day, and he said it's all about how you treat the soft tissue, and patient care..... Well, let me tell you, my 'long time' new friend Dr. Karimi..... is AMAZING! and if you can't tell, I HIGHLY recommend him (and his wonderful staff)! --Robert Nall
