Nov 22, 2024I had scheduled a 24 hour-recovery breast augmentation.
I have a blood clotting disorder and always held off getting this surgery performed due to my personal higher risk of complications. The experience and technique used by Dr Khan is a major reason why I traveled to Dallas, TX from San Antonio, TX to meet her and to go forward with the surgery. Her skills as a surgeon are remarkable. The whole experience was really seamless. During my initial consultation with Dr Khan, I learned details about the rapid recovery technique, I believe your surgeon has the expertise to know what will look best, therefore you need to trust and listen to what they recommend. I felt very comfortable doing so after I met Dr. Khan and learned more about her accomplishments and training. I love her approach where she selects the proper size of implant tailored to the specific size of my breast pocket to create the best and most natural outcome.
The surgical experience was seamless. I arrived for my preop evaluation on a Thursday. I was measured and reviewed the details of the surgical process and recovery. She even gave me handouts that addressed emotional concerns that some patients may experience after surgery, like a temporary post-surgical depression. She thought of everything you would need to know in her handouts to alleviate fears, so they were very helpful. Surgery followed the next day (Friday). The outpatient surgical suite was very clean and kept safe during COVID (not even your hubby can go in). They gave me time to speak with the anesthesiologist who had called me the night before as well. Liz (the anesthesiologist) was awesome. She explained what steps would be taken to prevent the risk of potentially dangerous blood clots due to my unique blood disorder. Once my preop meds were given to me, I was taken back to the operating room. She did not rush through the surgery — after the procedure, when I was finished with post-anesthesia recovery and could be escorted to the car where my husband was waiting to pick me up, she explained to my husband that she had taken extra time to assure everything was just right with the placement of the implants and the closure of the wounds. I really appreciated that! She cares about your safety and a good outcome for you. My husband drove me to where we would be staying in Dallas and the recovery period began. Dr. Khan had already armed both of us with the knowledge about the recovery procedure to follow over the next couple of days, and everything you need to do is written down and given to you in detailed handouts as well, so we both felt very confident knowing exactly what I was supposed to do. And really, the recovery protocol was very easy to follow. The first item on the list was to sleep for 2 hours — NO PROBLEM! Then I did my arm exercises exactly as directed, walked around, ate dinner and honestly felt great that night. My condition required a slight modification to her usual method, and therefore she kept my breasts wrapped for the duration of the weekend. I continued to follow her protocol of arm exercises and meds throughout the weekend until she saw me in her office the following Monday morning where she unwrapped me like a gift and gave me my special bra to wear for the next 6 weeks. Another important thing I liked is there is always a way to communicate closely with her office during the recovery period. During the 6 weeks they welcomed me to send questions, or photos of my breasts to show how they were recovering, and within a few hours they would answer me. The staff were great and Dr Khan goes above and beyond to make sure her outcome is beautiful. Each procedure is her own personal artwork. She is so talented. At 6 weeks my breasts are healing wonderfully. I am very happy and very thankful to Dr. Khan and her staff for the great personal care they continue to give me.
