I have always heard of the “Hippocratic Oath” which is one of the oldest binding documents in history… the oath written by Hippocrates is still held sacred by physicians: to treat the ill to the best of one’s ability, to preserve a patient’s privacy to teach the secrets of medicine to next generation. And so on.
A modern version of the “Hippocratic Oath” includes the following… quote: “I will respect the hard-won scientific gains of those physicians in whose steps I walk, and gladly share knowledge as is mine with those who are to follow. Excerpts from the document include the following: “I will apply, for the benefit of the sick, all measures which are required…”, “I will remember that there is art to medicine as well as science, and that warmth, sympathy and understanding may outweigh the surgeon’s knife or chemist’s drug….”, “I will remember that I do not treat a fever chart, a cancerous growth but a sick human being…”
These words could not have been a better representation of Dr. Christine Prendergast and her assistants. From my very first interaction with her after receiving the gut-wrenching diagnosis of Breast Cancer, Dr. Prendergast’s bedside manners was impeccable, caring and compassionate.
This behavior was the same throughout my entire treatment where she spent lots of time painstakingly answering my questions, explaining all details, patient - she was never in a haste and with very evident passion for her job and profession.
At no time was there the discussion of time spent or cost especially given my emotional state and the many questions I ALWAYS had, explanation of the complicated surgeries and just needing to be convinced that everything would eventually turn out well.
Dr. Prendergast welcomes Cancer patients with open arms, is very genuine in her actions and a significant credit to the medical profession, along with her team, I could not have asked for and/or received any better treatment during my battle and victory with Cancer.
For this I will ALWAYS be indebted to and grateful to Dr. Prendergast and her professional team.

With much appreciation,
