I went to Kallgren Dermatology for adult acne and saw the Physician's Assistant, Sue.

On her first visit, she was very nice. I did feel a little rushed, but she sat with me and listened at least a little before giving me a diagnosis and some sample creams to try.

On my second visit, I would say that she spent maybe two minutes in the exam room with me. I felt like she was being very condescending, and short with information. She basically refused to talk about the reasoning or details behind her treatment plan, just wanted me to take the creams and leave.

On my third visit, I had now been through two very ineffective (and in fact, problematic) treatment courses. I was feeling frustrated. So Sue spent a whopping five minutes with me, basically waited for me to stop speaking, didn't address anything that I'd said, and prescribed me an oral antibiotic. She didn't say anything about side effects. She walked out before I was even done talking to her.

It's impossible to describe how small and insignificant this medical practice has made me feel. When I called them on the phone today to ask some questions about my medication, Sue continued to be defensive, short, and dismissive. I've really tried to be nothing but respectful of her time and professional opinion.

I know that adult acne is probably not that interesting to treat, but I'm paying her to at least pretend to care. Instead she told me to discuss the possible side effects of my medication with my primary care physician. She genuinely does not care and does not see me as important. The more questions I've asked, the more I feel like she has only a superficial understanding of the drugs she's prescribing and acts dismissive to cover the glaring gaps in her knowledge. And I would like to say: I have adult acne. It's not like I'm grilling her on molecular biology. I just saw in the drug information pamphlet that it could cause high blood pressure and I wanted to know more.
