Nov 22, 2024I was referred to Dr. Fayazi when I was diagnosed with early stage breast cancer, and she performed part of my first surgery (mastectomy with tissue expander) and second surgery (implant replacement). She is calm, confident, and competent, and I am extremely pleased with the results.
Some things to consider while deciding if Dr. Fayazi is right for you:
Expertise: I can’t imagine a more capable and skilled surgeon. She really did an excellent job and was confident in what her approach would be from the start. I just wanted a unilateral mastectomy on the side with cancer. I wanted the least invasive approach possible, but I was slightly worried about symmetry. Dr. Fayazi honored my preferences and ended up making me look very symmetrical, even given the limitations.
Wait time: She is in high demand and her office is extremely busy. This has resulted in me waiting 1.5+ hours for appointments, at times. Can be inconvenient, but there is a Starbucks nearby and a walking trail, so I sometimes spent my time doing other things while waiting.
Bedside manner: Dr. Fayazi does not sugarcoat things. She is very direct, and tells you the worst-case scenario so you can make informed decisions. I found this a little abrupt at first, but I came to appreciate it. Additionally, she does not elaborate so much. I was able to get a lot of supplementary information from former breast cancer patients through the nonprofit Hope Connections.
I wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Fayazi, but mention these things as I think they help a patient mentally prepare.
