Nov 22, 2024I had a similar experience to another reviewer where a service/procedure that was offered was denied because it “might leave a scar.” Well no kidding.
I needed a small old piercing hole removed above my lip that constantly aches, would get red and sometimes inflamed and never settled. It’s the worst at night after a full day of talking and eating. This is not only incredibly uncomfortable, but unsightly.
This procedure normally just takes a small punch biopsy (like a medical
hole puncher) and a couple of sutures to remove the tube of scar tissue and take care of - an hour long in office procedure at most. I would much rather have a small scar than this painful hole in my face, but apparently it’s not even worth having that conversation with me, the potential patient.
Super appreciate the curt, 2 liner email from the office staff blowing me off after I sent photos and gave all the information - did they think it wouldn’t leave a scar before when I asked them about closing a tiny hole on my face? Why have me go through the trouble?
It makes me wonder if the Doctor just didn’t want to waste their time on such a small procedure and keep their consults open for more profitable ones instead. Pure speculation, but I’ll never know because they didn’t even bother to ask.
Fortunately I found another highly recommended doctor in downtown Seattle to take care of the procedure for me this week who took the time to explain the pros/cons and risks to me.
