I had a FUT hair transplant done by Dr. Lam about 1 year ago. The results were excellent, but I should mention that this was actually my second hair transplant, and that Dr. Lam was touching up the disappointing work done by a different (well-known in the area) hair transplant office.

You should definitely schedule a consultation ASAP because it can take months before he will be able to see you, and then potentially months longer before the actual operation takes place, and then of course there is a lengthy time you need to wait (about a year) before you actually see results.

The procedure itself was entirely painless and felt like it was over in an instant. They didn't use anesthesia or put me under, so I am shocked that I fell asleep so quickly and was out cold for the entire operation. At the other place I had gone to for my first hair transplant, I was awake and highly uncomfortable the entire time, and they had stretched out the surgery to take place over 2 days. So I can say from experience that having this procedure done by Dr. Lam was definitely as easy and painless as it gets. Dr. Lam's price was also slightly lower than the place I had first gone to.

Healing and results can be slow, but that's just how it is. After 1 year, I was really happy with the results. The top of my head does randomly get pretty itchy sometimes, but I couldn't say for sure whether this is simply my natural body being itchy normally, or a side-effect of the transplant.

The staff were very helpful and informative as well.

On a final note, I am a transgender woman and Dr. Lam was entirely sensitive and courteous towards me - not all of his staff always were, but he was quick to correct anyone if they misgendered me, which I thought was very kind of him. I was also impressed that he was thoroughly knowledgeable about working with transgender patients. At the first transplant office I went to, they had never worked with any women before, at all - which should have been a huge red flag for me, but hey I was ignorant and naïve at the time. Dr. Lam is definitely the person you want to go to, whether you're a man or woman.
