Jun 16, 2025Two years ago I went to Dr. Shapiro wanting to fix my dorsal hump and deviated septum and he assured me that I was making the right decision, he would fix both of my concern leaving me with a straight nose and symmetrical dorsal lines. My surgery was on June 20th, 2022. One year after my surgery I went to him expressing how my nose was crooked and that I am not happy with the results, he responded by suggesting that I get filler on the left side of my nose to fix the appearance of my nose and he would not operate again to fix the issue because there would be 'too much' scar tissue. This coming from a doctor who only touched the bridge of my nose twice after surgery when taking off the cast and two weeks later and every other follow-up appointment admired his work from ten feet away probably to ignore the fact that it was crooked! This is not what you wanna hear after trusting an 'award-winning board certified surgeon' to operate on the center of your face, and paying thousands of dollars to improve your appearance. I attached my testimonial posted on his website to this review to reference the pictures and what he wrote below.
Regarding the testimonial, nothing he wrote in it is true. I was 20 years old when I got my surgery, not 23. My mother got a facelift two weeks after I had my surgery, she did NOT have a rhinoplasty 10 years before. I never asked for a more delicate tip, I liked the tip of my nose it WASN'T crooked, all I wanted was my dorsal hump removed and my deviated septum fixed so that I could breathe. Who knows if the facts about the procedure are true?? He charged my mom for a chemical peel, and after the surgery the nurses in the OR said she did not have one, so she asked him on her follow up appointment the nurse Alexis said she did not have a chemical peel and Shapiro ensured her she did, probably so he wouldn't have to refund her, but if you've ever seen a chemical peel the skin actually PEELS, and my moms skin wasn't red and it did not peel. This testimonial was posted after my one year post-op appointment where I expressed how unhappy I was with the results, so I most definitely was not 'ecstatic' with my results.
On his website it describes Dr.Shapiro as 'compassionate and honest'. I saw no compassion from him when I went with my mom to her follow-up appointments. My mom brought a list of questions like 'when can I wear makeup, does it matter what lotions I use, etc.' She had expressed that she had some questions, and before she could even ask them he started screaming at her about how dare she question him, she needs medication, everything is all in her head, shes the problem'. His behavior was appalling, it seemed that once he got your money what happens afterwards is no longer his concern.
