Apr 19, 2025My first red flag should have been when I called to schedule the consult and surgery, and the girl I spoke with had an attitude when I didn’t know the answer to a question about my health insurance. Fast forward to my appointment, I was told at the end of my consultation that I needed to pay over $2000 immediately to keep the appointment for my surgery, which was scheduled a week out. Apparently my insurance did not cover surgery, but I was never given an estimate or ANYTHING beforehand. They had my insurance information for over a month. They could have easily ran numbers and given me an estimate before this—or given me a worst case scenario cost. I had 3 other oral surgeon offices give me exact cost estimates for surgery without even seeing me in person. Oh and to top it off, I was charged over $100 for the consult with the Dr., which was not a big deal. I went back into the office in tears wanting to further clarify the bill, only to be told that my insurance did cover the 100% of the consultation. So why was I charged over $100??? After calling other oral surgeons in the area, I was told I was being severely ripped off and was billed over DOUBLE what I should have been to have two wisdom teeth removed, with general anesthesia. Take your business somewhere else, people!
***editing to add, they told me my balance was due one month prior to surgery. When I called to schedule the consultation, they wanted to schedule my surgery at the same time. Okay, great. They said they prefer to schedule the consult and surgery in the same week. Due to other obligations, I asked them to push my surgery back a week. You tell me that my balance is due one month prior to surgery—but don’t even let me see the estimated cost until a week and a half before surgery? At least give me 30 days from the consultation or surgery to pay or make arrangements. Not everyone has thousands of dollars to pull out of their a$$ immediately like you demanded.
