My daughter had a chalizion and has been treated by a doctor at raleigh opthalmology. After a month of medicines and warm compresses she has seen no improvement. she was refereed to Dr Paul Riske in the same office as he is an expert in treating and surgically removing chalazia. We've taken an appointment and went to see him. The nurse took all the details from my daughter and before even the consultation with Dr Riske, she had her sign a surgical waver form. Dr Riske came in, looked at my daughters eyelid and said we have to surgically remove it and completed the procedure in a hurry. she was not given any other options. After a week to 10 days the chalazion still didnt improve and she went back to see Dr Riske again. she was made to sign the waiver again, Dr Riske came in and said we will have to perform the surgery again and did it immediately. It been over two months and she has lost growth of her eyelashes near the surgical area and has a scar on her eyelid. At her next appointment Dr Riske said this is unusual and he didnt know whether she will grow her eye lashes back but the scarring will heal after sometime. We took an appointment with Dr Mettu to seek a second opinion. He reviewed her eyelid and took pictures and explained that the incision was made too close her eyelash follicles and she would not grow back her eyelashes but her scarring will heal. We requested a call back from Dr Riske after we consulted with Dr Mettu. Dr Riske called back a day later and spoke to my wife and she explained what Dr Mettu has seen and sent him the pictures. He was to call us back after he reviewed the pictures and we still haven't heard from him for almost a week nor did my daughter. we would not recommend Dr Riske and if you currently have an appointment to see him please do not sign any surgery waiver forms before consulting with the doctor and considering your options. You would be better off with another opthalmologist in the area.
