Terrible experience with failed clitoral hood reduction. After several thousand dollars and months of healing, all I have to show for it is a small scar. Do not go to Dr. Ammar Mahmoud for CHR.

BEFORE: Alinea/Labiaplasty NYC uses pushy sales tactics and misleading information. They said I could "finance the procedure" without explaining that this meant signing up for a new credit card. Maybe I should have figured that out earlier, but it is also their responsibility to make business practices clear. This was one of many manipulations.

DURING: the procedure started several hours late, and of course mistakes happen, but this seems to be the standard rather than the exception. The surgeon, Dr. Mahmoud, *changed the procedure in the operating room without informing me*. He took tissue from an area not previously agreed upon, and - as I learned later - failed to take enough tissue from the side I wanted to modify. The surgery was to fix asymmetry, but he made that asymmetry worse. They also lost several of my belongings while I was in the OR (eg keys, work ID).

AFTER: during months of follow ups, I raised concern that I did not see any difference from baseline. I looked at my body and pictures, noting as I healed that the asymmetry was not improving. Dr. Mahmoud angrily and emphatically told me I was not being patient for healing. He emphasized during every meeting that he has performed "thousands of these procedures", implying that he'd done thousands of THIS surgery. That number would require a CHR every single day for almost 6 years to get to even 2k. Rather, he must have been counting ANY/EVERY procedure he's performed, again manipulating and giving misleading information. He would then ask "what are you unhappy about?" insinuating that I was being overly emotional rather than taking my report seriously. I spoke calmly and objectively, trying to be treated with respect, but when I answered, he consistently interrupted me, saying I was wrong, even about my own perception. He got mad and took personal offense. Not only is this extremely unprofessional, it implies that he *knows* he did a bad job.

Additionally, another provider asked me, while my legs were in stirrups and he photographed my vagina, if he could text me on my private number to get a referral for a loved one related to my job. And that was the most supportive and polite person I met at the company! I will not mention his name since he at least was otherwise kind to me, but this was also wildly inappropriate.

Alinea's protocol is to charge an extra $1500 for revisions even when they failed to achieve the objective of the surgery. I persisted, saying and showing that there was no meaningful change, and eventually they agreed to re-do it at no extra charge (which is the industry standard, not a courtesy). But even for free, I will not go back. It is not worth it to risk genuine damage, and Dr. Mahmoud has proven he is unable to do this surgery.

I wish I had trusted my gut. Prior to choosing Alinea, I consulted another provider; they were not salespeople, they were profession and knowledgable. Unfortunately, when they estimated a higher price, I tried to save money. But you get what you pay for with Alinea: LESS. Ultimately, I am going to end up paying double (in money and in recovery time) to fix what Dr. Ammar could not.

Today, I went back to the other doctor. They took new pictures, we looked at them side by side, and I laughed to say I'd already had surgery. It felt like the meme from The Office, looking for differences between two of the same picture. Neither the surgeon, nor the assistant, nor I could tell which photo was pre or post. Nor could my gyno. Finally, the doctor said "although they clearly did not do much, you still have a clitoris, you still have labia. It is certainly frustrating, and you are not crazy for saying that they failed, but at least they did not mutilate you." Cold comfort, but I am grateful for that in the end.

Do not go to Alinea/Labiaplasty NYC/Dr Mahmoud for labiaplasty/CHR.
