16 years ago, I started a cosmetic office focussing on minimally invasive technology-based body contouring. In a very short period of time, I was performing several procedures every day. In fact, I was doing more liposuction procedures in one month than most cosmetic surgeons performed in a year. In the process, I got very good at what I did.

I was able to learn from every case and use technology to maximize patient outcomes and minimize downtime. I was also able to discover new techniques and better ways of doing things. The reason I was able to get the results that I did was because of specialization.

Like anything else, the more you do of anything, the better you get. This is a universal truth beyond cosmetics. The way you become the best at what you do is to focus on it.

Most plastic or facial plastic surgeons do not specialize exclusively in cosmetic surgery. In order to make a living, most surgeons do a combination of insurance-based work such as managing diabetic foot ulcers and burn unit work which has nothing to do with cosmetic surgery. For this reason, although they may be skilled physicians in other ways, they may not be the best choice for your cosmetic procedure.

In 2010, Dr. Joffrey found and patented what he and many other physicians believe is the biggest breakthrough in liposuction technology in 30 years, WaterLipo®.

Until WaterLipo®, all other kinds of liposuction relied on the concept of crushing or melting fat and then sucking it away—both still somewhat traumatic.

WaterLipo®, on the other hand, uses a gentle stream of water to literally dislodge fat that is then gently washed out of the body. WaterLipo® is safer than traditional liposuction due to it being performed under local anesthesia using the tumescent technique and it is more effective at removing fat then laser liposuction alone.
