What is Hormone Pellet Replacement?
Schedule onlineHormone pellet replacement therapy involves placing an implant under your skin to deliver a slow, consistent level of synthetic bio-identical hormones. Bio-identical hormones are the most chemically identical hormones to the ones that our bodies produce naturally. This ensures optimal delivery of essential hormones, such as estradiol or testosterone, to patients who are suffering from the negative effects of natural hormone depletion.
Unlike other forms of hormone therapy, such as oral pills and transdermal creams or gels, pellet hormone replacement therapy aims to reduce the “up and down” effects of other types of supplemental hormones. Hormone pellet replacement therapy results in more consistent mood and energy levels. With a pellet hormone replacement therapy implant, individuals can maintain sustained hormone levels throughout the day for up to five months.
What are Hormone Pellets?
Specially formulated hormone pellet implants are very small and contain a natural source of bio-identical hormones. The pellets are placed in fatty tissue under the skin every three to four months, depending on the patient's natural physiological processes. The bio-identical hormones are slowly released from the pellets to closely mimic the release rate from the body. Placing the hormone pellets is a minimally-invasive procedure that is performed during an in-office visit. The pellets dissolve in your body, so they don’t need to be removed.

Hormone Pellet Replacement and Weight Loss
Unwanted weight gain is one of the biggest challenges for men and women with menopause, andropause, and low testosterone levels.
Patients going through these next stages of life find that gaining weight is easier and losing it gets harder and harder every day. This is because the hormones in your body affect the speed of your metabolism. Therefore, lower levels of hormone production in certain patients may contribute to the onset of weight gain, despite living a healthy lifestyle that includes proper diet and exercise.
Patients who receive bio-identical hormone pellet replacement therapy treatments may lose weight during the course of treatment. While the increase in hormone levels may help increase metabolism and help patients lose weight, bio-identical hormone pellet replacement therapy is not considered a weight loss solution. It’s important that you always lead a healthy and active lifestyle while using hormone replacement therapy.

Last year, my teenager was so happy with her consultation with Dr Epstein. The staff was kind, caring and considerate. For insurance purposes, we had to wait for her procedure until she was 18. Much to my dismay when I called today, I learned the practice no longer takes ANY form of health insurance. They have given in to the medical model that values profits over all else, that values only those who can fully afford to pay out of pocket. I am so disappointed and would not recommend this practice to anyone.
