Brian Thornton, MBA, MD, PhD, is Board Certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS). While attending the University of Louisville, he completed medical and graduate school and received his MD and PhD in Microbiology and Immunology. He completed an integrated residency in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Kentucky and has authored numerous scientific publications, invited seminars and textbooks. He completed an MBA at the University of Louisville in 2013.
He believes breast reconstructive surgery allows him to combine art and medicine by providing creative solutions to patients’ needs and helping them to fulfill their expectations, and enhancing their outcomes. In his private practice, Dr. Thornton believes in personalized care for each of his patients.
Dr. Thornton is a consultant for a leading manufacturer of breast implants and a producer of a tissue support for breast reconstruction. His consultancy work allows him to offer cutting edge technology and techniques for his patients. He is one of a handful of plastic surgeons nationwide invited as a panel member of a Breast Reconstruction Advisory Board that has been held annually since 2009.
