When choosing a surgeon for eyelid, lacrimal or Orbital issues, as well as for cosmetic facial surgery, it is important to consider the physician’s training. Dr. David Freilich is an esteemed member of the American Society of Ophthalmioc Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. As an ASOPRS member, he has Board certification from the American Board of Ophthalmology, the oldest medical certifying Board in the United States.

Dr. Freilich completed a full Ophthalmology residency where he built the foundation of his general knowledge of diseases and surgery of the eyeball. He then furthered his training into the highly specialized field of Oculofacial Surgery (care of problems related to the eyelids, tear ducts, orbits, and cosmetic surgery of the eyelids and face).

To perfect his sub-specialty, Dr. Freilich completed a post residency fellowship in Oculofacial Surgery. He then applied to ASOPRS and was required to submit a scientific thesis of original research in a topic related to Oculofacial Surgery. After his thesis was well received by the Society, Dr. Freilich passed both a written exam and an Oral exam administered by the Society, to test the depth of his knowledge and medical judgment.
