Dr. Furst is a second generation physician, born and raised in Odessa, Texas. A graduate of Permian High School, he went on to receive a Bachelor of science degree from The University of North Texas. Upon finishing college he attended Texas Tech University School of Medicine, obtaining his Doctorate of Medicine degree. Five years of general surgery training followed at Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska, including a six month fellowship in Lancaster England. He completed his training at The University of Michigan with a two year residency in Plastic Surgery. Dr. Furst returned to Odessa in 1994 and has practiced plastic surgery there for over 22 years.

Dr. Furst is the founder of the Wound Care clinic, past Chief of Surgery, and past Chief of Staff at Medical Center Hospital. He is a Assistant Clinical Professor at Texas Tech Regional Health Science Center in Odessa.
