Mehul KamdarDr

A native or Northern New Jersey, Dr. Mehul Kamdar is a Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon practicing in the NJ/NY region.  He received his medical degree from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in 2003.  Inspired by mentors in plastic surgery at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center, he chose the field of plastic surgery because of his fascination with the beauty of human anatomy and form.  The field is unique in requiring a mastery of both male and female anatomy, from the head to the toe, including the understanding of change in form that occurs during growth.   He enjoys the ability to treat patients of all ages from newborns with congenital deformities, middle aged individuals dealing with trauma or cancer, or more elderly patients requiring subtle reversal of the ageing changes of their body.  He was accepted to stay and train in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the combined Columbia/Cornell Medical Centers including time spent at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and the Hospital for Special Surgery.  Dr. Kamdar embarked on a year long research fellowship at NYU Medical Center under world-renowned cleft surgeon, Dr. Court Cutting.  The culmination of his work was the first ever educational DVD training series to teach international surgeons state of the art pediatric cleft lip and palate surgery from the masters.  His exposure to adult cosmetic and cancer reconstruction in New York led him to ultimately pursue microvascular surgery for technical expertise in handling every challenge in reconstructive plastic surgery.  He was accepted as the sole fellow at the UCLA Medical Center microvascular fellowship where he continued to master plastic surgery techniques, focusing on breast cancer reconstruction in particular.  In 2010, Dr. Kamdar returned to northern NJ to establish the first DIEP flap breast reconstruction program at Morristown Medical Center.  He brings to NJ his wealth of experience from academic institutions including Columbia, Cornell, Memorial Sloan Kettering and UCLA.  Since then he has performed hundreds of microvascular procedures with unsurpassed success.  His professional interests focus on cosmetic and reconstructive breast and body procedures. He most recently served as Section Chief of Plastic Surgery at Morristown Medical Center.
