About a year and a half ago, my son was diagnosed with keratoconus. Keratoconus is a corneal disease that is progressive and can lead to severe vision loss if left untreated. He has Trisomy 21 also known as Down Syndrome and about 10% of people with T21 have keratoconus. As a mom and a fellow optometrist, I knew the importance or treating this promptly. Unfortunately, the only FDA approved treatment is something called Epithelium-off corneal collagen crosslinking. This procedure requires the top layer of his cornea to be removed for treatment and has a long and painful recovery especially for someone who may not understand why we are doing a procedure on him. After meeting with both Dr. Korotana and Dr. Jonathan Woolfson several times, we were at a stand-still with what to do. My son would not be able to handle the recovery for the FDA approved procedure. Lots of calls and prayers for a solution were placed. Finally, I got a call from Dr. Woolfson that changed everything! He had enrolled in a study for a new, less-invasive procedure called Epithelium-on crosslinking for a special population of people with T21. Both eyes could be done at the same time with minimal discomfort because the top corneal layer is left on! This was exactly what we had been praying for! Last Friday in a session that normally takes 1 to 1.5 hours, my son had both eyes done in a marathon 5-hour session. Maddie our technician and Dr. Woolfson were both amazing! They both talked to Jake in a manner that kept him calm and worked tirelessly to get the whole treatment done. I cannot express enough how grateful I am for their patience and perseverance to seeing his treatment all the way through. They saved my son's sight! As a mom of a special needs child, I cannot express how thankful I am for all that they have done for my family. We are eternally grateful! Amy Jeffries, O.D.

Terrible experience on multiple levels! 1) Verified on 2 occasions with the person who schedules and who checks you in that they had verified that my insurance would cover both the evaluation and cataract surgery with this group. I was told that this was the case, until 1 week before my surgery when I was contacted and told that it would not cover their facility. Had to start all over again, delaying treatment, and costing me extra, and was still billed for my evaluation. Billing coordinator said they do not verify what insurance covers in advance and that I should have done so despite my being told repeatedly that they had verified this and everything was covered. It's a great scam: they get paid for the eval whether or not they can do the surgery. 2) The evaluation itself was terrible. The doctor cut my appointment short, taking a personal call from his daughter in the exam room (it was clearly not an emergency) while I and two interns waited on him to finish chatting with her. After he hung up with her, he walked out telling me that he was sorry we didn't get to talk about the actual surgery more. I was given almost no information. 3) After the my evaluation, there was no follow-up from their office like I was told there would be. I eventually contacted the surgical coordinator to get more information - almost none of it in writing, and eventually, to schedule the surgery. May be the worst experience with any doctor's office at every level that I have ever had. I will be contacting my insurance company to file a complaint against this practice. Would highly recommend you do not seek care here.

I had LASIK surgery recently at the Woolfson Eye institute and cannot recommend them enough. Between my interactions with Dr. Spetalnick, Dr. Patil, David, Dr. Woolfson, Madison, and all the other support staff, I can say that I had an amazing experience. I had an extremely strong prescription and was a bit nervous, but I watched the prep video three times before my procedure. It was very helpful, and the humor helped calm my nerves and make me more relaxed. Also I am working on a graduate degree in Instructional Technology and from a professional standpoint, the video is extremely well done. My LASIK procedure was flawlessly executed and I had a fantastic experience that resulted in 20/20 vision. I would highly recommend the Woolfson Eye Instite to anyone and everyone. Thank you for changing my life.

Dr. Woolfson made me feel super comfortable and I love his personality. I was very nervous about getting Lasik but that all changed the moment I met him. Lasik was painless and a fast procedure and to take my focus of what was going on he talked to me during it. He also allowed my husband to be in the room while the procedure was being done. David who sat in the waiting room with us was very funny and kept us entertained while we waited. I cannot thank Dr. Woolfson enough for making this procedure fast and easy and my vision is 100% better. If you are thinking about getting Lasik, do it and book your appointment with Dr. Woolfson.

I had been terrified to get lasik for years and it wasn’t until my friend told me she was getting it done and with Dr Woolfson that I decided to really look into it. The consultation went really well and I took the plunge in October (2024). As someone who has worn contacts for 3 decades, the sheer joy of NOT taking my contacts in and out has been immeasurable! And the staff is truly awesome! Madison was so patient with my seemingly endless questions and the video Dr Woolfson sends out before the procedure was very informative (and funny!). I took my Woolfson wolf to work with me & that's Wolfie in my cockpit! Thanks so much to all the personnel, would absolutely recommend them!
