Profile

Dr. Kim-Chi Vu attended the University of Portland for her undergraduate degree, and graduated medical school from Oregon Health Sciences University where she also completed her surgical residency. She is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and is also a foremost leading surgeon in hand and wrist trauma surgery. Not only does Dr. Vu specialize in reconstructive and cosmetic surgery, but she is one of only a handful of female plastic surgeons in Portland.

During her residency, Dr. Vu was involved in several research projects including the heparin effect on thrombocytopenia, bioresorbable rib stabilization in rib fractures, and a clinical study on composite grafting for correction of bilateral cleft nasal deformity. Dr. Vu’s exceptional knowledge comes both from plastic surgical experience and year-round local and national continued education in the the latest breakthroughs and technology within the field. Additionally, Dr. Vu’s extensive expertise in hand trauma surgery serves as a complement to carefully choreographed cosmetic procedures.

“My work in cosmetics and trauma complement one another–trauma keeps me attuned to the minute level of detail that will restore function to an injured hand, while cosmetic work requires an aesthetic, almost artistic, appreciation of how the body works.

The respect I have for my patients drives me to continue ongoing training so I may transfer that knowledge to my plastic surgery, cosmetic surgery, reconstructive surgery and hand surgery practice. My expertise in trauma and reconstruction carries over naturally to aesthetic procedures because of the attention to the delicate details of every structure, in order to achieve the best and most beautiful results. I am deeply honored and humbled to have the opportunity to educate and provide you with the information you need to help you make your decision about your plastic surgery.”

Excellent, attentive care from their entire team. Dr. Madsen took time to explain what was going on with my injured hand, and offered his opinion on various options for treatment.

This place is the absolute worst. Didn’t bill correctly and then didn’t return dozens of phone calls I made to fix billing and insurance. Sent to collections where you also can’t speak to a person and get put on hold. Avoid at all costs. They don’t properly bill insurance, don’t do it in a timely manner, and the care was sub par. They don’t return phone calls and don’t have a working billing department.

Dr. Vu caters more to insurance companies than patients. I didn't feel she had much heart. I will NEVER recommend her to anyone !!!

Dr Vu is truly one of the best there is and I highly recommend her. She did my surgery 14 years ago and when I needed surgery again I knew I needed her expertise. She is not only a great surgeon because of doing an impeccable job, but she is thorough and also very personal and caring about her patients. Her entire staff is well experienced and very knowledgeable and comforting too while they take you through the visit.

I injured my finger a week ago and went to emergency room. Dr. Vu was referred for the follow up. I got an appointment at 8:45am on July 3rd for follow up and was instructed not to change the bandage until the appointment. I filled out all the patient forms online a couple of days ahead of the appointment. The day before my appointment, I was told that the appointment needs to be re-scheduled to 1pm and I agreed. At 12pm, an hour before my appointment, I was told the doctor cannot see me until a week later. I told the office that my bandage was on for a week and needs to be changed. I was told to go to the urgent care. I have never had such terrible experience with any clinic and do not understand how they could treat the patients this way without any consequences.
