Charles Galanis, M.D., is a plastic and reconstructive surgeon who is double board certified in surgery by the American Board of Surgery and in plastic surgery by the American Board of Plastic Surgery.
Dr. Charles Galanis, a native of Milwaukee, completed medical school at the University of Wisconsin, where he served as class president and was inducted into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha honor society, a distinction only granted to the top 15 percent of medical school graduates.
Upon completing medical school, Dr. Charles Galanis completed his internship and residency in general surgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital – denoted the number one hospital in the nation by US News and World Report for a record 21 years in a row. While a surgical resident, he was awarded a research grant from the National Institutes of Health to conduct two years of clinical research at New York City’s Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center – the number-one-ranked cancer center in the U.S.
While at Johns Hopkins, Dr. Galanis was awarded the Resident Teacher of the Year award as Chief Resident. After completing his general surgery training, he pursued his interests and entered UCLA’s highly competitive plastic and reconstructive surgery program. With diverse training throughout the Los Angeles area, including private cosmetic practices in Beverly Hills, high-volume county hospitals, and the US News and World Report number-three-ranked UCLA Medical Center – considered one of the best programs in the nation – Dr. Galanis honed his expertise in plastic surgery.
