Profile

Dr. Charles Lee’s interest in plastic surgery spanned his entire medical education. He obtained his medical school training at Washington University in St. Louis, birthplace of the American Board of Plastic Surgery.

After completing medical school, he completed a residency in facial, head, and neck surgery (also known as facial plastic surgery or otolaryngology) at Loma Linda Medical Center.

Interest in plastic surgery led him to a plastic surgery residency under Dr. Ralph Millard, a pioneer and legendary name in the field (named one of the top ten plastic surgeons of the last 100 years by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons). After completing his studies with Dr. Millard and another two years of training on muscle transplantation and pediatric plastic surgery, he went to Hawaii to train with Robert Flowers, MD of Honolulu, a renowned expert on Asian cosmetic surgery.

Cosmetic Procedures received in 2015: Jaw Reduction (v-line) and (unwanted) Buccal Fat Pad Removal. Dear Dr. Lee, In 2015, I put my trust in you to improve the appearance of my face, an imagined slight that was not even an issue, and you took advantage of that and completely failed me. Do you know how illegal it is to perform a cosmetic surgery without the patients consent? Do you know how illegal (and morally wrong) it was for you to remove my buccal fat pads at 20 years old without my consent or knowledge while you had me under anesthesia for my jaw reduction? Removing my buccal fat at 20 years old was an insane move. When I think about how you violated my body by removing my facial fat without permission, I shake with anger. Any decent doctor with half a means to do good would NEVER do that. It is common knowledge that I know from a brief google search that buccal fat pad removals before the age of 35 are NOT RECOMMENDED. Thanks to you, I looked like I had been using meth heavily for YEARS. Just so you know, in 2021 I was finally able to semi-reverse your mistake with a facial fat transfer, but it does not look like it used to. Never forget that I placed my trust in you, and you could not have let me down harder. You took a life. p.s. I tried to post on healthgrades but either my review was full of "profanity" or he has found a way to report it as a false review and pretend he was not my surgeon. I have the emails scheduling my consultation in January 2015 and surgery in March, but my guess is he is too ashamed to admit and own up to what he did.

I've had the privilege of having Dr. Lee as my surgeon since 2015. I had many cosmetic procedures from a simple Botox/Filler injections to a major face/neck lift, Lupo,,etc. Dr. Lee is the best and only surgeon I have full trust. Cosmetics surgery could be risky, costly, and may not always have a result what we want, but every single cosmetic procedure I have done by Dr. Lee I always have a fantastic result and being fully satisfied. Moreover, Dr. Lee is very knowledgeable, experienced, and trustworthy. No wonder he has been always regard as one of the top- notch plastic surgeons in Beverly Hills for so many years. Highly recommended.

I've been hesitating for a while to post this, but wanted to share my experience in case it would be helpful to anyone. Overall, I am satisfied with the result of my rhinoplasty. However, I am very frustrated, upset, and feel taken advantage of for how the billing worked out. When I spoke to Angela before scheduling my appointment, she checked my insurance and told me that my insurance would cover $5 K of the overall rhinoplasty. The procedure was quoted at $18.5 K (with or without insurance), therefore I needed to pay $15.5 K out-of-pocket. A couple weeks after my procedure, I checked my insurance claims and it showed that my insurance had paid Dr. Lee's office around $20 K for the rhinoplasty (they billed my insurance ~$88 K). So in total, Dr. Lee received $35 K ($20 K + 15.5k) for a procedure that was quoted at $18.5 K. I contacted their office and made them aware of the situation. Angela said they cannot refund me any money because it would set off a "red flag" if they were to be audited (which sounds super sketchy). I wasn't really clear on what she was referring to. Nevertheless, she did offer me a free plastic surgery procedure for a family member to make up for the overpayment (which was so strange to me) - I respectfully declined and just asked for some money back. She said she would talk to Dr. Lee and get back to me. A couple days later, Angela called back and said they could provide $5 K back in cash... But I would have to meet them in person, this is difficult since I live on the other side of the country. The fact they were offering cash (rather than just sending me a check or something) didn't sit right with me either, so I declined this as well. After a few more weeks I reached out directly to Dr. Lee to explain this whole situation, and he never responded. I am super disappointed with how this billing situation turned out. It doesn't sit right with me that you can quote $18.5 K, collect $35 K and not issue any type of refund. ------------------------------ TLDR: I was quoted $18.5 K for a rhinoplasty with Dr. Lee, and was told that my insurance would cover $5 K, therefore I paid $15.5 K out-of-pocket. In actuality, my insurance ended up paying $20 K therefore in total Dr. Lee received $35 K for a procedure that should have cost / was quoted for $18.5 K. I contacted their office and they said they cannot offer me any money back, due to some benign reason, but instead they did offer another free plastic surgery procedure.

I cannot express the confidence I feel after just 1.5 weeks. Dr. Lee is a specialist at his trade. He ensures that your results will make you still look like you. I do not understand why he does not have 5 stars. He is expensive. But if it is your face…..would you entrust someone who charges half…or someone who knows what they are doing!!!??? If it’s my face I’ll pay for what I get….and so far what I got is something that I am finally proud of. I am Korean and adopted, I never loved my looks, I wore heavy makeup to make myself feel confident. After Dr. Lee did rhinoplasty and an non surgical double eyelid with brow lift, I feel I can wake up and walk out the door as the person I always wished I could be. Dr. Lee and his GORGEOUS staff are there for YOU.
