Raised in a medical family, Dr. Applebaum learned the importance of a strong doctor-patient relationship while watching his father and grandfather treat their patients. He soon decided to pursue medicine, graduating from University of the Health Sciences/The Chicago Medical School in 1985 before training at the USC/Los Angeles Country Hospital’s prestigious surgical residency. After five years of general surgical training, Dr. Applebaum completed plastic surgical training at the University of California Irvine Medical Center and went on to complete extensive study at the renowned Beckman Laser Institute. Dr. Applebaum began his practice at Cedars Sinai Medical Center in 1992, moving it to its present location on Bedford Drive four years later and building the Four Thirty Six Aesthetic Surgery Center soon thereafter.Dr. Applebaum is an active medical staff member who performs reconstructive surgery at Cedars Sinai Medical Center, and has published numerous scientific journal articles.

In addition to being certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS), Dr. Applebaum is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, Graduate Surgeons LAC/USC, Los Angeles Plastic Surgery Society, American Society for Laser Surgery and Medicine and the Los Angeles County Medical Association.
