Dr. Burke E. Chegar is a specialist in facial plastic surgery. A Carmel native, Dr. Chegar graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Wabash College and went on to receive his medical degree from Indiana University. Following graduation from medical school, Dr. Chegar’s surgical training took him to New York where he did a general surgery internship and a residency in Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery. Upon completion of his surgical training in New York, Dr. Chegar moved to Georgia to complete a sub-specialty fellowship in facial plastic surgery through Emory University School of Medicine.

Dr. Chegar’s accomplishments include more than a dozen presentations at local and national meetings of surgeons, the publication of many articles in professional journals, and the receipt of competitive awards for surgical excellence. Dr. Chegar obtained the third highest score nationally on the American Board of Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery examination. Dr. Chegar was also honored by the American Academy of Facial Plastic Surgery with the John Orlando Roe Award for the best clinical research paper by a facial plastic surgery fellow.

Dr. Chegar is double board certified by the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and the American Board of Otolaryngology. Dr. Chegar is also an active member of the American Academy of Facial Plastic Surgery, American Academy of Otolaryngology, American Rhinologic Society, American Medical Association, and the Indiana State Medical Association.
