Throughout his career as a board certified, renowned plastic surgeon and a respected educator, Dr. Finical has never lost sight of his most important achievement: a happy patient. There have been many at Charlotte Plastic Surgery, and Dr. Finical is known as much for his enduring relationships with patients as his surgical expertise.

In conversations with his patients, he addresses concerns and helps them understand what to look for in a plastic surgeon, what to expect during procedures, and what results can be achieved. “An educated patient is the best patient,” he explains. “I don’t gloss over options, alternatives, or risks. All of my patients hear that. We work as a team.

In addition to such career highlights as working on The Faculty and Staff at the Mayo Clinic and contributing frequently to many peer-reviewed journals, Dr. Finical is proud that he spent time mastering the art of customer service through Ritz-Carlton training. He believes that going above and beyond to make patients feel more comfortable and at home is fundamental to the philosophy of his team and his practice.

When Dr. Finical isn’t operating, the native of Mansfield, Ohio, enjoys sports, reading, traveling, and spending time with his wife and their two children.

Dr. Finical has been performing Plastic Surgery for more than 25 years and is known for maintaining his patient’s authenticity while enhancing the naturally beautiful features of each patient. He delivers incredible, lasting results.

He has achieved this status through the completion and participation of a multitude of residences, fellowships, and societies; some of which include the Rhinoplasty Society and the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons. ASAPS is a subset of plastic surgeons that concentrate on cosmetic procedures and is an ongoing source of up-to-date training. Dr. Finical has been not only a member but a contributor to the society and their educational meetings for over 20 years.

Dr. Finical understands the volume loss women and men experience in their face as they age. Youthful skin is about shape and volume, not “tightness”. He doesn’t give them something new that they have never had, rather he helps restore what once was.

The Rhinoplasty society as mentioned above is an organization with only 150 members worldwide – compromised of the top Rhinoplasty surgeons in the world. These surgeons specialize in some of the most complex cosmetic nose procedures with the most innovative surgical techniques for Rhinoplasty surgery.

In the realm of plastic surgery, Rhinoplasty is considered to be one of the most difficult operations to perform. The members of the Rhinoplasty Society seek to sharpen their expertise with one another by sharing their knowledge and skills.

Dr. Finical’s expertise in Facial aesthetics goes beyond training; he was on staff at the Mayo Clinic in the Division of Plastic Surgery, is a past president of the medical staff at Mercy Hospital and was also a clinical professor of Plastic Surgery at The University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. He is published in numerous peer-reviewed journals, was Chairman of the system-wide medical executive committee for Carolinas Medical Center and was a past President in the Southeastern Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons.
