Dr. Ahmad's journey to becoming the leading eyelid surgeon he is now didn’t happen overnight. It began with a strong foundation in academics and medicine. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology with High Distinction from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. He then continued his studies at the prestigious University of Michigan Medical School, graduating with his Doctorate of Medicine in 1994.

Following medical school, Dr. Ahmad completed a transitional year at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan, before embarking on his residency in ophthalmology at the renowned W.K. Kellogg Eye Center with Dr. Paul Lichter, and his oculofacial mentors, Dr. Bart Frueh, Dr. Christy Nelson and Dr. Victor Elner. It was during his residency that he discovered his passion for the intricate and delicate procedures involved in eyelid surgery.

Driven to further specialize in this field, Dr. Ahmad pursued a fellowship in Oculoplastic and Orbital Surgery at the W.K. Kellogg Eye Center. This intensive training honed his skills in both cosmetic and reconstructive eyelid surgery, equipping him with the expertise to address a wide range of eyelid concerns, from aesthetic enhancements to complex functional issues.

His training at the Kellogg Eye Center was incredible and to this day, his level of detailed examination and thoughtfulness stems from the tutelage of his mentors. The most important lesson he learned at Kellogg is that sometimes the best surgery an oculofacial surgeon can do is no surgery at all.

I came to Dr Ahmad for a lower blepharoplasty to help correct bags under my eyes and some eye asymmetry and had an amazing experience and result! I didn't have a strong referral from word of mouth or a doctor as I am not from the Chicago area so I was nervous to take the jump with a surgeon (most would advise against this), but I am here to say the consistently high reviews live up to the hype! Dr Ahmad spent multiple pre-planning sessions with me assessing my eyes in detail to build a custom plan. This was far different than the other doctors I consulted with, who try to rush you in and out and treat this type of surgery like an assembly line. The surgery was very easy and recovery was not bad! Dr Ahmad also personally checked in multiple times in the first week to make sure things were going well! I am super happy with the results and very grateful to have had Dr Ahmad as my surgeon!

I was referred to Dr Ahmad by my optometrist Dr Bob Steinmetz. I was under the care of a Oculoplastic surgeon at Northwestern downtown and prior to that I was taken care of by a Oculoplastic surgeon at Wheaton eye clinic. Both of those surgeons did surgery on my and diagnosed me incorrectly with eye issues from Psoriatic arthritis. Dr Ahmad only sees cosmetic eyelid surgery patients, as a favor to Dr Bob he saw me immediately after he returned to Chicago from the Michigan bowl game. With in the first appointment, he said I had Thyroid eye disease. He scheduled for an orbital decompression followed by Tepezza treatment. He treated me even though he doesn’t take care of this disease. He did it for me because he’s an amazing, kind doc who understood that I was at my wits end. He changed my life both saving my vision and returning my eyes to their old appearance. He has become a true friend. No words can express my gratitude. The best thing I can say is thank you Dr A. Dr. Ahmad lived up to his reputation as being the best in the business, AND for having an unusually amazing bedside manner. I was referred to Dr. Ahmad for a medical insurance based cosmetic ptosis procedure. The entire experience was first class. Dr. Ahmad's entire staff was incredibly professional, friendly and a joy to be around (along with Dr. Ahmad himself). The cosmetic eyelid procedure itself was performed in a first class facility downtown. My medical issue has been resolved and I feel/look much better than I had expected.

Dr. Ahmad is a unique doctor. He’s an artist, a perfectionist, a genuine healer but most importantly an incredible human being. It was amazing watching the enthusiasm at which he masters his profession. I am blessed to now call him my friend. My procedure involved ptosis surgery and upper lid blepharoplasty to both eyes. My case was somewhat complicated and I was aware of that going into it. He was calming throughout the entire journey. Two weeks later I am already amazed at what I see looking in the mirror. It is life changing. I am thankful I crossed his path along with Enza, Sandra and Sue, his staff. A group of grounded, sincere people that treat you like you have known them forever.

I honestly cannot say enough good things about Dr. Ahmad. He's an amazing eye surgeon, but what really stands out is how caring and compassionate he is. He did my revision surgery and stood by me through the whole process- never once rushed always patient, and always willing to explain things in a way I could understand. You can tell he truly cares about his patients and wants the best for them. He is not one of those robotic, cold doctors- he has a heart, and it shows in how he treats people. I had a horrible surgical experience from another surgeon. I was treated like a number- I lost faith in doctors altogether. With Dr. Ahmad, I felt supported the entire time, through the whole process, and that meant the world to me. I required a revision that was due to an illness. Dr Ahmad jumped right in and stuck by me every step of the way. I am so grateful for everything he's done.
