Profile

Dr. Kim is a board-certified plastic surgeon at Northwestern Medicine and Prentice Women’s Hospital. He is a Professor of Surgery at Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine. Dr. Kim is a magna cum laude graduate of Harvard University, and received his Doctor of Medicine and Master of Arts in English from Stanford University. While attending Stanford, he was nationally recognized as a three-year Howard Hughes Medical Institute Fellow. Dr. Kim has a busy clinical practice in downtown Chicago and he has performed over 10,000 surgical procedures over the last decade.

Dr. Kim holds several patents on a unique class of medical devices and sits on the Editorial Board for the Annals of Plastic Surgery. Dr. Kim’s work has been featured in national media outlets, including ABC News, the Chicago Sun-Times, and eMedicine.com. He has given over 100 lectures and Grand Rounds presentations on new techniques in plastic surgery and has published over 180 articles and chapters in the plastic surgery literature. Dr Kim is a winner! He and his friendly, caring staff are the best!! He did my breast reconstruction after a mastectomy. It is perfect! Other doctors who see it compliment his artwork! He is so calm and reassuring. He answers all questions. I have gone back to him for other, smaller surgeries. I fully trust and highly recommend him!

When I finally made the decision to have a prophylactic double mastectomy I had the luxury of time to choose a doctor. After meeting Dr Kim I knew right away he was the best choice over the others. Dr Kim took the time to ask what I wanted, my expectations and answered all my questions. He truly listens to his patients and wants the best for them. Dr Kim is an artist for sure and I’m super happy with my results! Also cannot say enough about his staff- professional and very responsive! Dr Kim is top notch for sure!

Dr Kim is the best in Chicago. He is extremely knowledgeable, professional and friendly! I absolutely LOVE my results and will be going to him moving forward for any of my cosmetic procedures. His entire staff is very helpful and welcoming, always attentive to your every need. There is no wait time, I sat down to fill out my paperwork and I got called in right away. I would highly recommend!

Took my mother and girlfriend to Dr. Kim. Hands down the most professional experience that we/they could have experienced. From the receptionists to the nurses, everyone involved made us feel extremely comfortable and catered towards their needs. Dr. Kim is an absolute artist. You can tell that he is a master of his craft within every aspect of plastic surgery and aesthetics. He listened to their concerns, their wants, and their goals and offered the best advice. When it comes to honest doctors that will do the absolute best for their patients, recommend only what they truly believe will help rather than try to line their pockets from unnecessary products or procedures, John Kim is paramount.

Dr. Kim is the most meticulous and compassionate Doctor I have ever met! He put me back together in 2007 after my Roux-En-Y Gastric Bypass. My Tummy Tuck and Breast lift were Beautiful. Other doctors and friends have commented for 12 years that I have virtually no visible scar from my tummy tuck or breasts! I finally had my Thighyplasty in December 2018. I don't know why I waited so long. Dr. Kim gave me back my once pretty legs. Also I had another breast revision. I wanted Higher, perky breasts and they are gorgeous. I call him "Dr. Magic Hands" because he is a miracle worker! I refer him to anyone who asks about my procedures or is looking for a Plastic surgeon. I am forever grateful to you Dr. Kim for all you have done for me to feel whole and pretty again. God Bless You!!!!
