Dr. Mustoe started his career at Washington University rising to Associate Professor after 4 years, and leaving after 6 years to come to Northwestern University as Professor and Chief of the Division of Plastic Surgery in 1991. He has retained that position for 19 years, and planned to step down in 2010. During his tenure, the clinical volume in plastic surgery at Northwestern University Hospital has tripled, and the plastic surgery residency program has become one of the most competitive programs in the country, and one of a very few programs that set aside and fund a required year for research.
Singled out from other Chicago plastic surgeons, Dr. Mustoe has been named annually to multiple Best Doctors lists both locally and nationally for the last 16 years, and carries on a busy clinical practice focused on aesthetic surgery. He has written multiple papers on his surgical techniques in facial reconstruction, breast reconstruction, aesthetic surgery, and techniques for local anesthesia and conscious sedation.

May 14, 2022Horrible experience. He was supposed to do a facelift. Instead he damaged me and made me look worse. Staff is almost as arrogant as he is. I would give anything never to have seen him.

Jan 2, 2022I went to Dr Mustoe for a lower facelift. His painful and expensive procedure accomplished absolutely NOTHING except the removal of a little fat on one side of my neck. My face does not look one iota better. I cannot imagine what he thought he was doing. Pictures show that my face hasn’t changed at all. After 3 months I still have bloody oozing from one of my ears and a very painful spot behind the same ear. I have had a facelift before—a beautiful one by a now retired
plastic surgeon—and I am not naive. I paid for nothing—except pain and
disappointment. Beware!

Jan 2, 2022Terrible experience. I was supposed to have a lower facelift. My face looks exactly the same as it did before Dr Mustoe’s “procedure.” I have pictures that prove it. In addition, he tore off a piece of my ear and after 3 months I still have bloody oozing and a very painful spot behind one of my ears. This man should not be allowed to practice any more.

Aug 21, 2019I got a botched nose ? job in Mexico. Unfortunately for trying to find a better cost saving solution now it costed me double. I felt ashamed of what I had done when talking to Dr. Mustoe he made feel at ease and never spoke bad of the previous doctor which showed me how professional he was. I needed a revision surgery and he found the best approach given my skin tone and ethnicity. The day before surgery I was told that I couldn't have it done because my anemia levels for extremely low although I was upset I understood what was going on. I am glad I waited till my levels were up. My surgery was a success and I feel normal again. His staff is very friendly as well. I don't like taking pictures but I wanted to include something here showing my face because I am happy with my results. In the before pic my nose is long and super straight. It's hard to tell in the after because I don't have a side profile of the after but it looks normal like if it were my natural nose.

Jun 11, 2019I cannot begin to express how grateful I am to Dr. Mustoe and his staff. I had always heavily desired to get rhinoplasty done in order to breathe better and have a better shape to my nose. However, I had always been nervous of potential bad results as well as possible complications. I found Dr. Mustoe on google and traveled from out of state to see him because of his credentials . From the first consultation, all the way to post surgery, he was nothing short of spectacular. He told me that it would be very painless. He said that my result would look extremely natural and I would have a very quick recovery. Not only have I been amazed by the outcome(exceeded my highest expectations), I also was SHOCKED during the process. Only minimal pain the first night of surgery and absolutely none after. I was at the gym working out within a week! In my opinion he’s the best at what he does, he’s an extremely caring person and a true professional. I would highly recommend him.

Jun 11, 2019Just over a month ago, I had a facelift, one brow lift (the right was lower than the left), and a few fat injections under my eyes. I was back to work in just under two weeks, and all of the staples and stitches are out, save for a few that will dissolve on their own. I am quite impressed by how much I simply look like a much better version of me! I looked tired before, and gravity was not being my face's friend.
I am really happy and this is barely four and a half weeks out. I look forward to seeing how this progresses as all of the swelling finally evens out and all the stitches dissolve.
If I ever need/want another procedure, I will definitely come back.
