Education and Credentials
- Received his medical degree from Indiana University School of Medicine where he earned the American College of Surgeons’ Award for Outstanding Achievement in Surgery. He also completed his surgical internship and general surgery residency at Indiana University. He served his plastic surgery residency at St. Joseph Hospital in Houston, University of Texas Hospitals, and MD Anderson Cancer Center.
- Diplomat of both the American Board of Plastic Surgery and the American Board of Surgery. He is certified in microvascular surgery.
- Member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, and the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons, and the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons. His research has been published in the leading plastic surgery journals and presented at various medical conferences nationally including the American Cleft Palate – Craniofacial Association, the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery, and the Texas Medical Association. He has also been guest speaker for distinguished groups such as the Houston Society of Plastic Surgeons, and most recently the Midwest Society of Plastic Surgeons where he was asked to present his advanced techniques in body contouring surgery.
- Recognized as a leader in his field and has been featured in numerous local and national news broadcasts and publications including ABC’s 20/20, WBBM News, Fox News, WGN News, the Chicago Tribune, and the Chicago Sun-Times, Oprah, and most recently on the Dr. Phil Show.

Jan 13, 2019Dr. Platis did my breast surgery about 15 years ago, I just recently returned for a tummy tuck and lipo and I look fantastic. I am so happy to have found Dr. Platis. I will only go to him and his staff. They addressed all my concerns and questions and the day of my surgery I was so relaxed thanks to Dr. Platis. He answered all my questions and made me feel comfortable. I can't wait to return for my next procedure. They treat you like family!!

Sep 17, 2018In 2004 Dr Platis did my tummy tuck. He was awesome! Very kind, great bedside manner, he really cares about his patients, he actually met me on a Sunday at his Merrillville office to check my progress while he had friends and family in his vehicle. But the best part is every time I visit the gynecologist they ask who did my tummy tuck, then tell me what a great job he did. Comparing my results to others... I’m THRILLED with my results even after 14 years!

Oct 25, 2015Hi, 6 months ago I had a tummy tuck and I'm so thrilled and thankful I wanted to share... I've had 2 surgeries by Dr. Platis and I look amazing!! I had a breast lift in 2012 and a tummy tuck in 2015. Both with perfect results!
I have worked with Dr's for 28 years and Dr. Platis was referred to me by my gynecologist. When I first met Dr. Platis I knew he was honest, sincere and his work was well known. Dr. Platis makes you feel very comfortable.
