Dr. Lyford-Pike is a highly accomplished and skilled facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon. At The Hilger Face Center, Dr. Lyford-Pike performs a full spectrum of procedures, from minimally invasive injectables and skin treatments to comprehensive, life-changing facial surgeries. “Each patient and case I see is unique, and my goal is to collaborate with my patients to truly understand and advise what is best for her or him. It is my obligation to explain all options and the procedure thoroughly so that my patients will make confident, informed decisions, and know that I will support them the entire way”.

Dr. Lyford-Pike also practices medicine at the University of Minnesota, where she performs large, sophisticated reconstructive head and neck, microvascular, and free flap surgeries. She treats acute trauma patients and performs advanced procedures to restore the form and function of the head and neck. Dr. Lyford-Pike runs the Facial Paralysis Center at the University of Minnesota, focusing on regaining patients’ facial expression and literally helping them to smile again. In addition to performing surgeries, Dr. Lyford-Pike is an Associate Professor and Chief of the Division of Facial Plastic Surgery within the Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Minnesota as well as Vice Chair for Clinical Strategy.

Besides bringing wisdom and understanding from a woman’s perspective, Dr Lyford-Pike also adds a wonderful international essence to the clinic. Raised in Brazil, her parents and spouse are from Uruguay. Her primary language is English, but she also speaks both Portuguese and Spanish. She is a mother of 3 boys and her extended family is all over the world — from Brazil to France, Australia, and Argentina — so she maintains 4 passports.

I just had an absolutely excellent experience with Dr Van Beck and her staff. I was having problems breathing through my nose and was referred to them for a consult about six months ago. I was nervous because I’d never had major surgery before, and they were going to have to do some complex stuff to fix the issue. I think with any other doctor, I would have chickened out from nerves and not gotten the surgery, just because of my own anxiety. But Dr Van Beck and Samantha did an excellent job answering all my questions in a timely manner and never making me feel like my questions were silly, which I think speaks to an excellent bedside manner. I always felt comfortable asking any question I needed, and that made it possible to have a smooth recovery and minimal anxiety about the whole thing. They also got me in quickly for both the consult and the surgery, and made sure I was healing well every step of the way. They communicated clearly and quickly and always got back to me same day when I had questions, both before and after the surgery, which made the process SO much easier than I was expecting! I’m about a month post surgery now, and I’m super happy with the results. I can breathe a lot better already, and everything went as smoothly as I can imagine a major surgery going. At any rate, I wholeheartedly recommend Dr Van Beck and her staff. They were fantastic professionals every step of the way, and I’m so grateful I can breathe better now! Their office staff was great too, and the clinic is clean and comfortable. Hopefully I don’t need surgery again in the future, but I’ll come here again if I do :)

I had a complex septo/rhinoplasty with Dr. Sofia Lyford-Pike. My ENT recommended her and I am/was so impressed by her bedside manner. She showed true humanity and took the time to explain everything to me multiple times. She brought comfort where I felt anxious. Her nurse, Elizabeth, was also fantastic and knowledgeable and answered all my questions post op! I love my nose and would recommend Dr. Lyford-Pike to literally anyone!! She fixed my medically necessary nasal changes all while making me feel beautiful.

i had a simple in-office procedure done with Dr Van Beck. the pre-surgery consult was easy. Dr Van Beck helped me understand how the procedure would go and what i could expect post-surgery. the actual surgery was over soon after it started. my recovery was better than i expected. i'd gladly recommend Dr Van Beck and the entire Hilger Face Center staff. top-shelf!

I was referred to Dr. Hilger at the Hilger Face Center by another plastic surgeon who felt Dr Hilger was the best choice of doctor to correct my broken nose.
