I HIGHLY recommend this surgeon and his practice. I could write an entire book about my experience with Dr. Barbour and his staff but I will try to keep it down to a minimum. On New Years Day 2022 I went to urgent care with what I thought was an abscess. I was thinking it just needed to be lanced and I would get an antibiotic and be on my way. What it was instead, was a flesh eating bacterial infection that left me in the hospital for 26 days with a large portion of my body being affected. I'll spare you the gory details, but I am a big woman with diabetes. There are many reasons why the outcome of this experience could have been bad. I had a great team of surgeons at Fairfax Hospital to get me through the initial surgeries and treatment, however it was Dr. Barbour who was left to pick up the pieces. 10 months later, after weekly wound care appointments and a reconstructive surgery, I was whole again, thanks to the care and concern of Dr. Barbour and his team. He didn't have to take my case. I was just lucky. If you are willing to do what you need to do for your health, then Dr. Barbour is an amazing partner to work with. I recommend him whole heartedly.

I went to Dr. Barbour because my left pinky finger was numb following surgery on my right shoulder. From what I read via google searches, the numbness was likely to due to ulnar nerve damage at my left elbow because of how my left arm was positioned during surgery on the right shoulder. I also read that ulnar nerve damage can be confirmed with an EMG. When I met with Dr. Barbour, he told me he had no idea why my pinky finger was numb but was certain it wasn't due to ulnar nerve damage. He said it can't be ulnar nerve damage because my ring finger would also have to be numb. When I suggested we should maybe do an EMG just to make sure, he was totally dismissive and said, "that won't tell you anything". He told me there was nothing that could be done and sent me on my way.... I went to see an excellent hand surgeon several weeks later and he immediately suspected ulnar nerve damage. He ordered an EMG, and the results came back confirming recent ulnar nerve damage at the elbow. I am now planning to have surgery to get the nerve repaired.... I'm 65 years old and have never had such a bad experience with a doctor. I can't NOT recommend Dr. Barbour enough.

One of the worst experiences I've had with a health care professional. Made me feel stupid for seeking help with a long-standing injury, and seemed upset...

I was not at all satisfied with my experience with Dr. Barbour. I had surgery intended to achieve symmetry between my two breasts. I had multiple complications after surgery. It is impossible to say whether that was bad luck or poor judgment on the part of the surgeon. Dr. Barbour frequently seemed dismissive of my questions and concerns. After 4 days in the hospital on IV antibiotics, my breasts looked completely assymetrical, scaly and painful. Eventually the pain went away (approx. 3 months) but it has taken a long time to recover. If I had it over to do again, I wouldn't! Find another surgeon!

I got a reduction back in 2020 and I told Dr. Barbour I wanted to go as flat as possible. He said he wouldn’t do that because he wanted to keep me “proportional” but that the reduction would be enough to improve my quality of life. I trusted that he knew what he was doing, which was a mistake. So I still have an uncomfortably large chest that causes me pain but now insurance won’t cover another reduction. If you are truly looking to get a reduction to relieve pain and improve your quality of life don’t go here. This doctor cares more about his outcomes fitting beauty standards than what the patient wants.

My experience with Dr Barbour has been wonderful. I had two moles removed from the face only three weeks ago and you can hardly notice anything. I'm very happy with the results! I had seen two doctors before Dr. Barbour and they had recommended not to take out the mole from the chin because the scar would be worst than the mole. When I went to see Dr. Barbour he said he disagreed and said I would be ok taking it out..... and he was right! The surgery was great! I highly recommend Dr. Barbour!! In addition, all the staff were amazing!!!
