For patients undergoing partial mastectomy, Dr. Failey performs an oncoplastic reconstruction to repair the partial mastectomy defect and, if necessary, he will operate on the unaffected side to ensure symmetry of the breasts. For patients undergoing unilateral or bilateral mastectomy, he offers the latest techniques in above-the-muscle (pre-pectoral) implant-based reconstruction, as well as the most advanced microvascular DIEP (deep inferior epigastric perforator) and free-TRAM (transverse rectus abdominis myocutaneous) flaps, which use a patient’s own abdominal tissue to reconstruct the breast or breasts without implants.
