Dr. John Michael Thomassen is a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon in Fort Lauderdale. He has served the South Florida community for over 10 years. During medical school, he decided to finish a year of research at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD.
Dr. Thomassen continued his medical training at Georgetown University in Washington, DC. He completed a 6-year integrated plastic surgery residency and fellowship. He then went on to start his private practice in Fort Lauderdale, FL.
With over 10 years of practice in the South Florida community, Dr. Thomassen has become a trusted and respected plastic surgeon in the South Florida community. He receives multiple referrals from doctors throughout the medical community. His skill in complex reconstructions has led to a wealth of experience and has lead to excellence in cosmetic treatments.
Dr. Thomassen remains active in the research arenas, working to advance the practice of plastic surgery. He also serves as a preceptor for ancillary medical care providers in training. This includes medical students and nurse practitioner students. He even works with high school students in pre-med tracks.
Staying the forefront of research allows Dr. Thomassen to also offer more complex forms of reconstruction including free muscle flaps and DIEP flaps for breast reconstruction.
