Dr. Zuniga is committed to providing his patients with natural appearing results that will surpass their expectations. His appreciation of anatomy and aesthetic ideals combined with his surgical experience allow him to present a customized treatment plan that is both state of the art and realistic. He is known for his straightforward and honest approach and has built a practice made up of dedicated staff to support and guide patients through their surgical experience.

Dr. Zuniga’s interest in plastic surgery dates back to his training in general surgery when he witnessed the ravages of trauma on the human body. He was naturally drawn to the specialty which focused on mending the lives of patients by restoring form and function. He believes plastic surgeons are afforded a unique opportunity to not only heal the body but to hearten the mind and spirit.

Education & Training

Dr. Zuniga graduated Cum Laude from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, California with a Bachelor of Science Degree. He subsequently graduated Cum Laude from Creighton University School of Medicine in Omaha, Nebraska and completed his general surgery internship at St. Mary’s Hospital Medical Center in San Francisco, California where he was named surgical intern of the year. He completed his general surgery training at the University of California San Francisco Fresno – Central San Joaquin Valley Medical Education Program. Following five years of general surgery training, he completed a three-year plastic surgery residency at St. Francis Memorial Hospital and the Bothin Burn Center in San Francisco, California. During this training, he spent six months at the world renown Bunke Clinic, perfecting skills in microvascular surgery. His extensive training with many leaders and innovators in the field of plastic and reconstructive surgery allow him to draw upon a wealth of knowledge and experience when treating his own patients.

Certification

Dr. Zuniga is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. He is an active member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Locally, he is an active member of the California Medical Association and is an active member of the Fresno-Madera Medical Society.

Dr. Zuniga believes strongly that patients deserve physicians who are well trained, certified, and who believe in the importance of ongoing medical education. He believes that well trained plastic surgeons have the unique expertise to manage a wide array of reconstructive problems and an eye for achieving aesthetic results.
