Dr. David Mateo de Acosta Andino is a board-certified Plastic and Reconstructive surgeon who specializes in cosmetic surgery, with an emphasis on breast enhancement surgery, Abdominoplasty (tummy tuck), Liposuction, Brazilian Butt Lifts (BBL), Brachioplasty and Thighplasty (arm and leg lifts), cosmetic revision surgery, and body contouring after weight loss. Dr. David Mateo comes to North Florida Plastic Surgery after 12 years of surgical training and 5 years of practice.

A native of Havana, Cuba, Dr. Mateo trained under world-renowned plastic surgeons. He received his Medical Degree from La Salle University in Mexico City, Mexico. He then completed training in General Surgery at the University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria, where he served as the Chief Resident Physician.

His academic rigor, passion for artistry, and excellence in surgical technique led to an interest in plastic surgery. Dr. Mateo completed his Plastic and Reconstructive surgery training at the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2019. An extensive list of 14 academic publications exemplifies Dr. Mateo’s commitment to surgical excellence. 

Following the completion of his surgical training, Dr. Mateo began practice as a Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon in McAllen, TX at the Doctors Hospital at Renaissance. His practice in Texas specialized in breast enhancement & body contouring after weight loss, liposuction, arm & thigh lifts, and cosmetic revision surgery. He also served as the creator and managing physician of the trauma reconstructive surgery line and as the hand trauma liaison. His excellence in reconstructive surgery garnered patient referrals from all over Texas.

Dr. Mateo’s diverse academic background and global surgical training have helped him become an intentional, efficient, and adaptive surgeon. He prides himself in helping his patients look and feel their best.
