From the first consultation, what stood out for me most was Dr. Karter's incredible attentiveness, kindness and absence of ego — something quite rare in this field. No matter how busy his practice was, Dr. Karter made me feel like he had all the time in the world to answer all of my questions. He never tried to oversell or promise perfection. Instead, he set honest, realistic expectations and emphasized natural results. That honesty gave me so much peace of mind. Once I decided to move forward, he shared his direct contact information and personally checked in after my procedure. His team is wonderful, too. Erin, his assistant, was my main contact — endlessly patient, responsive, and reassuring. And Sarina, who coordinates scheduling and non-surgical treatments, was always kind and accommodating. Together, they made the whole process smooth and human. I’ve had both surgical and non-surgical procedures, including rhinoplasty, and I couldn’t be happier with the results. As Dr. Karter reminded me early on, nothing in this process is ever 100%, but I’m truly thrilled with my “90-plus percent.” 😊 I can’t recommend Dr. Karter and his team highly enough. Their warmth, integrity, and genuine care made all the difference.

I had a primary tip plasty in 2021 which left me with a retracted columella. After several consults with surgeons in the CT and NY area, I chose Dr. Karter to perform a revision tip plasty (collumellaplasty). Reasons for choosing him was because I liked how he explained everything in detail. He seemed caring and kind and was easy to talk to. It took me several months to make this decision but felt it was an easy one. I was already building a Dr./ patient relationship with him as he had also performed other in-office procedures on me. During my many conversations with Dr, Karter, I made it VERY CLEAR that I loved the bridge of my nose. My bridge was straight, had a smooth transition from my forehead and was in harmony with the rest of my face. I also never had any allergies or breathing issues. I repeatedly told him not to touch my bridge. I said it in front of his Patient Coordinator, Erin and in front of my friend who was at one of my consults with Dr. Karter. Dr. Karter did not respect my wishes! After surgery, the nurse walked me to my car, my husband looked at me and the first thing out of his mouth was “I thought you told him not to touch your bridge?” I said I did, and he asked, “Well why do you have black eyes?” I was out of it from the anesthesia, so I didn’t freak out about it. It was later that day that I found Dr. Karter did in fact break my nose. I was shocked but I wanted to trust Dr. Karter. After all I trusted him to do my revision. Now almost 2 years post op, my bridge is now uneven, bumpy and a bit crooked. The tip is slightly crooked and looks bigger since he made my bridge too small for my face. I have two different profiles. My nostrils are uneven. I have allergies, breathing issues and my sense of smell has been permanently impaired. Dr. Karter basically diminished my quality of life as now I have trouble going on hikes or even getting a massage as I feel like I’m suffocating. I have tried for months to talk to Dr. Karter about the issues I am having after surgery. Dr. Karter is an ENT but DOES NOT have the ability to perform procedures that can improve my breathing like turbinate reduction and graft spreaders, etc. His expectation is I pay thousands of dollars to fix the breathing issues he created with another ENT. How is this acceptable? Does he not feel he has a moral obligation to his patients? He was always kind but basically was kindly gaslighting me. After several emails between myself, Erin, and his receptionist, now Office Manager Serena, I was told, and I quote” I fully acknowledge that he dropped the ball in how he communicated this aspect of surgery to you. He should have explained the procedure and possible changes more clearly.” They would not be pursuing a revision surgery and will not be taking any financially responsibility for affecting my breathing. I have decided to put in a complaint with the Department of Health as this should not be acceptable and is a breach of trust!

I am very happy that I selected Dr. Karter of Karter Advanced Facial Plastic Surgery for my scar revision. He was great to work with and did exactly what I wanted to have done. Dr. Karter and his staff are very friendly. The office is immaculate and there was never a long wait.
