A diverse educational background is the foundation of Dr. Rechner’s surgical practice. Early in his education, an engineering degree gave him important problem solving skills. After choosing to follow his dream of becoming a doctor, he learned fundamental surgical principles and advanced surgical techniques through his general surgery training and plastic surgery residency.

Dr. Rechner completed his General Surgery and Plastic Surgery residency at the Grand Rapids Medical Education and Research Corporation at Michigan State University. He also completed a pediatric craniofacial surgery Fellowship at the University of Toronto Hospital for Sick Children. Dr. Rechner is an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Surgery at Michigan State University’s College of Human Medicine. As a member of the teaching faculty at the Grand Rapids Medical Education and Research Council (MERC), Dr. Rechner is committed to educating and training the medical students and residents who will be the doctors of the future.

Dr. Rechner is also a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons, the Michigan Academy of Plastic Surgeons, the Michigan State Medical Society, and the Kent County Medical Society.
