Matthew Martin, M.D. attended medical school at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. He then continued his surgical training with the Grand Rapids/Michigan State University Plastic Surgery Residency program. Dr. Martin subsequently completed a dedicated Hand Surgery fellowship through the University of New Mexico. Dr. Martin returned to Grand Rapids and joined Elite Plastic Surgery in 2014.

Dr. Martin is currently a clinical assistant professor through the Department of Surgery at Michigan State University’s College of Human Medicine and was awarded “Teaching Faculty of the Year” in 2017. He is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and is a member of both the Kent County Medical Society and the Michigan State Medical Society. He has authored publications in the areas of reconstructive plastic surgery, pediatric plastic surgery, hand surgery, breast and aesthetic surgery, and healthcare delivery, and has presented nationally and internationally at numerous plastic surgery meetings.

Dr. Martin and his partners at Elite Plastic Surgery aim to provide exceptional patient care, and he understands a critical part of this is making patients feel comfortable during the consultation process. The decisions a patient must make in preparation for surgery can be intimidating. Dr. Martin makes this process as easy as possible through detailed patient education, an easy-going bedside manner, and taking all the necessary time to ensure his patients understand what they can expect before, during, and after surgery, as well as in the years to come.
