Dr. Spiegel received her undergraduate degree and doctorate in medicine from the University of Ottawa Medical School, Canada. After graduating with honors, Dr. Spiegel trained in general surgery at the prestigious Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland and completed her plastic surgery residency and a fellowship in microsurgery at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas.

Following her microsurgery fellowship, Dr. Spiegel trained directly under Dr. Robert J. Allen, her mentor and the pioneer of DIEP flap microsurgical breast reconstruction. Although technically challenging, Dr. Spiegel committed the time to perfect DIEP flap reconstruction and quickly proceeded to become one of the first surgeons to routinely perform this advanced microsurgical breast reconstruction in Houston.

Dr. Spiegel’s clinical expertise in advanced breast reconstruction includes reconstruction with reinnervated autologous muscle-preserving perforator flaps, including the DIEP, SIEA, SGAP, TUG, and TAP flaps, vascularized lymph node transfer, as well as the development of prepectoral direct to implant reconstruction. In addition, she is interested in all aspects of aesthetic surgery and is committed to women’s health issues in plastic surgery.

Dr. Spiegel has been in practice for over 20 years and has performed over 4000 breast reconstruction cases. Her technical skill, artistic eye, and unwavering priority of patient-focused care has propelled her to having an international presence in plastic reconstructive surgery.

I was lucky enough to have the options of having bilateral mastectomy in place of radiation therapy for my type of Breast CA. I had a consultation with both Dr. Sherry Lim and Dr. Spiegel. After meeting both of them and confidence in the results. I proceeded with excellent results and am very happy with my decision. Dr Spiegel has the unique ability to provide breast reconstruction at the same time as the mastectomy which is very reassuring.

Dr. Aldona Spiegel was referred to me by one of my doctors in my hometown after multiple surgeries and complications following my double mastectomy. My outcome was my worst nightmare. Going into my first appointment with Dr. Spiegel I had low self esteem, and honestly I had little hope I could be repaired. However, during our first meeting Dr. Spiegel’s professionalism, expertise, passion, confidence, honesty and the quality time spent with me to discuss the options that she felt was best for me gave me hope. Dr Spiegel literally saved my reconstruction! I had a first surgery back in the UK (mastectomy and reconstruction), and had expanders placed, but had pretty serious complications - hematomas, capsular contraction on my right side. The feel and look were quite bad, but the chronic pain was the hardest to deal with. I reached out to Dr Spiegel earlier this year for a revision surgery, hoping she can take me on as a patient. Not only did her and her team respond promptly, but they showed a level of care and commitment I hope any patient can experience. I had my surgery in May and the result has been fantastic - the pain is gone, which I thought was the most important criterion. But seeing how the implants look and feel as well, aspects I had dismissed, I am so happy I decided to have Dr Spiegel and her team deal with my revision. These 'smaller' aesthetic details are so important for our well-being - now, even my brain is actually tricked and cannot make the difference between before and after, and this has significantly improved my relationship with my body. I cannot thank Dr Spiegel enough for what her and her team have achieved, and for the level of care and consideration they have shown!

Dr. Spiegel was amazing to work with!! I was diagnosed with breast cancer in February 2020. That was during Covid so my first time meeting her was on a Zoom call. She thoroughly explained everything to me and showed me pictures that would help me understand what was going to happen. Everything I knew about implants had changed, but she put me at ease right away with her calm informative demeanor. Dr. Spiegel cares about her patients and wants them to feel beautiful and feminine when the process is over. She is very thorough! Dr. Nicole and Dr. Alexis also did a fabulous job each time I saw them! I highly recommend Dr. Spiegel and her staff! You will be happy you chose her, trust me!

Five stars do not justify the excellence of Dr. A Spiegel. I recently had my third surgery with Dr. A Spiegel. I have had major issues with my breasts and am a 3-time survivor. This was my 30th surgery. Never have I had such a caring and loving doctor and staff. I have seen top specialists in California for years. My experience with Dr. A Spiegel and her staff are beyond perfection. I know my body will do things that are unavoidable, but I have Dr. A Spiegel to turn to. I now have an Angel in this world.
