Dr. Fortes is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and by the American Board of Surgery. He has had one of the most extensive training periods of 8 years in surgical residency, including 3 years of specialization in plastic surgery at Northwestern Medical Center in Chicago. Dr. Fortes has always been at the top of his class at every level of his education, including graduating Magna Cum Laude from Rice University. He was also selected for membership into the exclusive Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society while at Baylor College of Medicine. He is currently a Diplomat of the American College of Surgeons and the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, and he is fluent in Spanish.
Dr. Fortes is honored to be named a 2024 Texas Super Doctor by Texas Monthly for his 11th year! Only a select few have received this honor for this many years. Being selected represents only 5% of doctors in a state or region and represent a list of outstanding physicians who must meet a stringent selection criteria.
