He graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in biochemistry/biology from Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts. Driven by his passion for medicine, he went on to attend New York University School of Medicine where he received his medical degree. While studying at the Institute of Reconstructive Surgery, New York City, Dr. Yellen participated in a research project related to improving liposuction techniques. It was this experience that inspired him to devote his professional career to the practice of plastic surgery.
