With three decades of experience, Dr. Askren is completely dedicated to the art of plastic surgery. He finds the artistic challenge most rewarding, and strives to provide naturally beautiful results to all of his patients. Dr. Askren delivers a fair presentation of both surgical and non-surgical options for management of aesthetic concerns, so patients are able to make an informed decision that best suits their ultimate objective. His calm, yet energetic tone reveals his enthusiasm while putting patients instantly at ease.

Showing an artistic side at age seven, Dr. Askren took special interest in the human form early on. Throughout medical school, his medium was pencil or pen and ink, which facilitated his work in medicine - particularly plastic surgery. Having illustrated in a number of medical textbooks, he now applies his artistic skills to living tissue and believes that the arts and plastic surgery are a natural combination.

Dr. Askren graduated Cum Laude from the Georgia Institute of Technology where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry. He received his Master of Science degree there, as well, studying laser applications in ophthalmology. After attending medical school at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, Dr. Askren completed his General Surgery Internship at Emory University. Following six years of surgical training at The University of California San Francisco Fresno – Central San Joaquin Valley Medical Education Program, he completed a residency in plastic surgery at the University of Alabama in Birmingham with Dr. Luis Vasconez and others – all pioneers of modern plastic surgery. His educational emphasis was on aesthetic face, breast and body surgery.

Dr. Askren is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. He is also an active member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and the California Society of Plastic Surgeons. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Locally, he is an active member of the California Medical Association and is an active member of the Fresno-Madera Medical Society.
