Education & Credentials

Dr. Diaz earned his undergraduate degree at Florida International University in Miami before continuing to the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine to study medicine. In medical school, he was a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society and earned the Golden Scalpel Award in 1991.

After medical school, he completed a general surgery residency at the University of Miami Jackson Memorial Medical Center and a plastic and reconstructive surgery fellowship at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center. His cosmetic surgery focus was honed by learning from the top plastic surgeons in New York City before going into practice in 2001.

Dr. Diaz was certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery in 2003 and re-certified in 2013.

After years of considering an elective lipo of my upper flanks procedure and consultation with several local plastic surgeons, I choose Dr. Michel Diaz. Finally found a Dr that listens and understands exactly what I want/need. Having reviewed his credentials beforehand, I knew immediately I made the right choice! Both Dr Diaz and his amazing team provided the warm and encouraging atmosphere I needed prior to the procedure, on the day of the procedure, and the follow-up visits. Everyone helped ease my anxiety before the procedure. I understand the nurses are professional, but here they are also kind and gentle! Wow! Nurse Freddie Velesquez is a superstar! His detailed follow-up and personal assistance during my visits helped my recovery. The entire staff was invested in ME as a person and patient. They have an abundance of patience answering my never-ending questions. As a double mastectomy patient, what I say as my “deformity” is gone thanks to the skillful hands of Dr. Diaz. I have no doubt he is by far the best of the best here in Melbourne. Before you have ANY procedure done, make sure you include him on your list. No doubt, he will rise to the top.

Dr. Diaz by far was the best Dr. I have ever been too. He has gone above and beyond to make sure I was ok. I have never had a physician give me his personal cell to call if their was an emergency. His staff is amazing. Freddie is so knowledgeable. Great facility...

I came to Dr. Diaz for a very delicate facial surgery and he was very thorough in explaining everything. The procedure was painless and the results were amazing. His staff member Megan was very kind and helpful throughout the process. His office is very clean and I felt very comfortable. If I could give him 6 stars I would.

If it was possible, my rating would exceed five stars. My experience with Diaz Plastic Surgery Specialists has been life changing in the most positive way possible. Dr. Michael Diaz, MD and Freddy Velasquez, RN make an incredible team. This office is about an hour and a half from home for me. Once I started my research on the procedures that I was interested in, I knew this had to be the first office I went to for a consultation. From the moment that I walked in and was greeted by Tammy Redfern and Theresa Stewart, I immediately felt welcomed. My interaction with Toni Thomas, the Cosmetic Coordinator was perfect. She explained everything thoroughly and answered all of my questions and concerns without hesitation. Dr. Michael Diaz and Freddy Velasquez are extremely personable and caring.I am almost at my three month anniversary since my initial consultation and almost at my five week anniversary since my tummy tuck with liposuction procedure. I have had several appointments since my mid-December procedure and I can honestly say that these are the only appointments in my life that I have been excited about driving to. I have never been left to feel unsure about anything such as the next steps, or any wild "what if" scenarios that I like to present to the team. The demeanor is calm and the reassurance is always there. Truly caring about the patients is an understatement, because this team goes above and beyond that by offering personal cell phone numbers, and staying extensive hours. Every part of my experience so far has truly been wonderful beyond words.
