Dr. Ram Kalus grew up in New York City where he attended the Bronx High School of Science, graduated from Boston University with his undergraduate and medical degrees, and has been in practice in South Carolina since 1990. He founded Plastic Surgery of the Carolinas in 1997. Dr. Kalus trained at Hartford Hospital, University of Connecticut, Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, UMass Medical Center in Worcester, and the Hospital for Sick Children in Paris, France. He is board-certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and is an active member of The Aesthetic Society® and the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), as well as a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

Dr. Kalus performs state-of-the-art surgical procedures with the highest level of precision to achieve superior results and aims for a totally natural and “un-operated” appearance. Dr. Kalus possesses a reputation for expertise and experience both nationally and internationally, making him one of South Carolina’s most respected plastic surgeons. His areas of interest include aesthetic and reconstructive surgery of the face, breast, and body. He continues to perform breast reconstruction, burn care, and pediatric plastic surgery on a voluntary basis in Israel, and recently accompanied an international humanitarian group to Ukraine where he operated on the injured.

Dr. Kalus has adult twin sons and enjoys travel, movies, theater, music of all genres, galleries, and museums. He is a photographer, and a do-it-yourselfer. He enjoys an active lifestyle with swimming, cycling, hiking, and yoga.

Education

Dr. Kalus earned board certification with the American Board of Plastic Surgery in 1992 after completing his medical degree and B.A. in Psychology cum laude from Boston University. Before beginning his practice as a plastic surgeon on the faculty at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine in Columbia, Dr. Kalus completed his general surgery training at Hartford Hospital and the University of Connecticut, followed by his plastic surgery training at the Connecticut Combined Hand Surgery Fellowship in Hartford, Connecticut; the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Hanover, New Hampshire; the Division of Plastic Surgery at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center in Worcester, Massachusetts; and the Hospital for Sick Children in Paris, France.
